The trouble with living within a star, is that the sky in Majesdane never quite had the appearance Karolina knew and loved from Los Angeles. And the trouble with L.A. is she couldn't really enjoy flying unless they were fighting something

There's polite clapping from the guy leaning against the blue police box nearby.

Karolina glances over, and gives a small, wary smile.

"Hi."

[thedoctorwho]

The Doctor grins.

"Hello there. Very impressive, that was."

[skyhighlucy]

"Thanks."

Karolina keeps an eye on him, warily.

"Just flying."

[thedoctorwho]

"Any bloke can fly, but you've got style when you do it."

To demonstrate, he takes a couple of steps and trips himself up into the air.

"See what I mean?" he asks, hovering about three feet off the ground. "No style at all."

Karolina tilts her head, eyebrows raised. Flying is flying.

"You're just saying that 'cause I glow."

[thedoctorwho]

He floats back to the ground.

"That's part of it. But you also have some very nice power and control. I mean, those loops and turns were impressive."

[skyhighlucy]

Karolina shrugs.

"Practice."

[thedoctorwho]

"Ah. Yes, well, it's difficult to practice anything when your entire ability to fly is inherent upon you not consciously thinking about the fact that you're doing it. As it is in my case."

[skyhighlucy]

"Really?"

She tilts her head, looking at him.

"That's a pretty lame superpower."

[thedoctorwho]

The Doctor laughs.

"Yes, I suppose it would be, wouldn't it? It's not really a superpower, though. It's just a little trick a friend taught me. Gotten me out of a scrape or two, that's for sure."

[skyhighlucy]

"It does," she agrees. "Doesn't much help anyone else, on its own, though."

[thedoctorwho]

"Not on its own, no. But it's one more tool in the box."

[skyhighlucy]

"Are you, like, a costumed hero or something, then?"

[thedoctorwho]

He shakes his head.

"Nah, nothing like that. I'm just the Doctor. That's all."

[skyhighlucy]

"The Doctor?" Karolina repeats.

"Man, I thought I had a lame codename."
