The trouble with living within a star, is that the sky in Majesdane never quite had the appearance Karolina knew and loved from Los Angeles. And the trouble with L.A. is she couldn't really enjoy flying unless they were fighting something

Hiro is woefully behind on his Runaways reading, but--

Anyway.

He isn't, y' know, blind. So seeing Lucy In The Sky set down when he came out for a breath of fresh air and to swing the sword he knows NOTHING about using around (because otherwise his other self will continue to be more awesome and badass then he)...

Well.

He's distracted now.

"Sugoi! Ah-- that was-- awesome. You sparkle!"

He's a grown up, and Karolina isn't quite up to trusting grown ups yet, but he does have that smile, and it's hard not to trust anyone with that smile.

"Thanks," she says, smiling with only literal sparkle. "It's an alien thnig."

[supaahiro]

"It's okay," he says. "I'm a supaa hero too! I bend time and space!"

WELCOME HIM AS YOUR HERO BROTHER! :D

"Really?"

There's not welcoming so much, as polite wariness. "Are you with a team?"

Is he a good guy, and therefore going to try and split her up from her friends?

[supaahiro]

"Uhm," he says, and scratches at his head. "I'm-- solo," he replies. "I have -- friends." He nods at this. Yes, he and ANDO are going to save the world. Really. "No team. No costume, even."

OK, that's OK. Karolina visibly relaxes from that slight tension.

"I don't have one either," she admits. "Costumes are so nineteen-nineties."

[supaahiro]

"You also sparkle," Hiro points out helpfully. This goes way beyond costume, after all. She sparkles!

"I am Hiro Nakamura!" he says. "Pureased to meet you!"

[skyhighlucy]

"Only some of the time," Karolina admits, making no attempt to stop sparkling. "I'm Karolina Dean."

[supaahiro]

"Nice to meet you!" he says, and bows promptly before offering his hand. He --tends to forget everything he learned in America when he's busy fanboying, sorry.

Karolina smiles and even bows quickly and badly before taking the proffered hand.

"What do you do with your powers?"

[supaahiro]

"I help people," Hiro replies. "Trying to save the world. Very bad future," he says, and his smile slips. "Just got back from bad futah."

A pause.

"My other self died. And now he's here. Very confusing."

[skyhighlucy]

Karolina gives a sharp intake of breath.

His future self died.

"You can change things," she says quickly. "Trust me. You can change future."

[supaahiro]

"I know," he says, and then shakes it off-- he's still a little bruised and beaten from his incarceration with Homeland Security, but --

Hiro rarely indulges in emo for long.

"It will be okay. We are at the hard part, but we will succeed!"

[skyhighlucy]

This is good, because Karolina has a bad habit of getting emo where humanitarian issues are at hand.

"Good," she says faintly. "I'm sure you will."

[supaahiro]

"So what is it like to fly?" he asks. "I know a furying man, but... he goes very fast."

[skyhighlucy]

She grins, and scratches her neck. "It's like... you know when you get butterflies in your stomach? It's like that all the time, but they're lifting you up, and..." she trails off, unsuire how to describe it.

"It's awesome."
