Ace squeaks and holds up her hands.

What?

Two cops just ran through the door! And some reflexes are a pain in the butt to get rid of.

"I swear I don't have the muscles t'lift a store."

The smart mouth is a really ingrained reflex too. There's a reason she got run in a lot as a kid.

He almost smiles at that, but he's too far into Professional Mode to let it show through the scowl.

"Practiced that line a lot, eh?"

Ace keeps her hands up. Just because she can survive being shot doesn't mean she enjoys it any.
"I always want t'be prepared in case I'm randomly accused of theft, yes." Ace deadpalms, easily.

The woman's initial reaction takes him aback a little and he almost laughs. He also removes his hand from the pair of cuffs clipped to his belt. Since when did that become a reflex? He swears, it's not like him. Things are just wonky today.

He motions for her to lower her hands.

"Naw, 's'okay, you wasn't the one we was after."

He raises an eyebrow at her.

"Does that happen often?"

"Randomly accused of theft? Nah. Gettin' in trouble? Ehhhhh yeah." Ace allows, not looking at all discomforted by this admission. "Somewhat m'stock in trade."

Hee. There's just something about her. He gives her a dubious look, but his tone is good-naturedly teasing.

"And what sort o' trouble are you most commonly gettin' into? Just so's we can take the necessary action if it comes to it, y'know."

"I blow things up. Thoroughly. I also fix small rents in time, but I'm newer t'that than the first." Ace still doesn't seem at all embarrassed.

"Well, as long as you don't blow anything up in our jurisdiction, we should get along fine."

He conveniently skips over the 'fixing time' part of the explanation. It's possibly it hasn't really sunk in.

Ace tilts her head curiously.
"Y'sound like a Londoner." Ace hedges, looking for more information. If their jurisdiction is London, she's going to need to tread very carefully.

"Yeah, he's from London, but we're with the Sandford Police Service. Out in the country, if you wanna get specific."

As if Danny's own West Country accent isn't telling enough.

"And where're you from, then?"

"Perivale, originally. That little town that's the unwanted stepchild of London." Ace grins. "Livin' in Yorkshire now, also out in the country."

"Ahh, I see. You ain't blowin' things up there, now, are ya?"

"In Yorkshire?" Ace clarifies. "Um.... Nnnnno. Not there."

She thinks.

Sometimes it's hard to remember just where she's hit.
