Last night, he dreamed about his father. (Mild spoilers for online novel,
War Heroes)

Tonight, Nathan was in the bar, in fact he was over by the bar. Making demands.

"Come on, I need to see it. It's important. I need to know what happens. What if they're right?"

Come over, and find out what he's asking for, and why Bar's refusing his demands.

"What's wrong?" Sally, from her spot a few feet away, sets her sewing aside for a minute to offer Nathan a sympathetic frown.

"Not getting what I need, that's what's wrong," Nathan started to answer before he noticed who or what was asking.

...What the hell? He hoped to God she wasn't a puppet. He had bad experiences in the past involving puppets. Namely being stuck as one for a time.

By now, Sally either doesn't notice or politely ignores any hint of OMGWTF IT'S A TALKING RAG?!?!?! directed her way.

"Maybe if you said please?" Yeah, she's got nothing. "If that doesn't work, there's really no point in trying. She does as she likes."

Let it never be said Sally likes to be patient.

He shook his head, "I tried, she probably thinks I shouldn't see them anyway."

"It's hard to trust her, but she's usually right, in the end. Bar, could I have some more fabric and thread please?" Sally pats Bar lovingly, and more silver fabric and thread appears in front of her.

"Thank you!" A pause. To Nathan, a smile and: "My name is Sally."

"Maybe." He just wanted to know if it really was hopeless.

"Nathan," he simply said, and debated offering his hand. It just seemed like it would be weird.

"Have you been here very long?" Sally turns back to her sewing, pulling a pin out of the dress and putting in her arm.

"Off and on for some months." Nathan gave her an odd eyeing at that, "You?"

[ooc: Sorry about the delay in tagging! Had a phone call.]

"I'm not sure. A year, maybe? Last time I left, I was gone for a year, at least, in my world." Sally pulls the pin out of her arm and sticks it back in the dress.

"Where are you from? I'm from Halloween Town."

Nathan remarked, "It's only been about a month now back home." And not all at once.

"New York." Not gonna comment how Halloween Town sounds more like one of those briefly running shops that open around late summer, and close up in early November for the Halloween season.

[ooc: MEEP. Sorry for the delay! :( If you'd rather fade, that's fine with me; I'd love to continue though. :)]

Nathan is a grown-up. It's not his fault he can't appreciate the morbid beauty of Halloween Town!

"I've never been there! In fact, I've never been outside of Halloween Town, except here. I've always wanted to go to the Human World with the others. They have the most fascinating stories after they come back!"

She slows down to take a breath. "Humans are so fascinating. You're all unique."

(ooc: no worries, got soo many slows yet)

Nathan just eyed her at that. Couldn't see her not sticking out anywhere. Then again, New York... even he'll admit some of his constituents are ODD. But as long as they vote, and vote for him at least.

"We are?" Though part of him was thinking,
You have no idea...

[ooc: Excellent! Thank you for the thread, btw!]

Sally would probably vote for Nathan, if she clearly understood the concept of voting.

Ignoring the eyeing, "You are! Humans have imagination- you're a lot like us, in Halloween Town. Human Children, especially, are fantastic little creatures- they believe in us, the demons, witches, and ghosts from Halloween Town. They appreciate what Jack does every year to give them a good scare every Halloween."

Totally patronizing look from the politician now.

"...Right," And Nathan wondered why such weird people tended to flock to him.

You can take the man out of Washington, but you can't take Washington out of the man?

"Did you not celebrate Halloween when you were little?" Sally tilts her head at Nathan, eyeing him carefully.

This could get interesting.

Well, one thing, he wasn't in Washington yet. A little matter of getting elected first. But he was also a New Yorker, and they're a skeptical jaded bunch usually.

Usually of course, didn't include people like his brother.

He gave a small laugh, "Of course I did. Early on I was the one taking my brother trick or treating." Which was a pain in the butt in his perspective. But then college kept him away during the holiday, and later the military.
