Deitmar does not look at all like someone who was clobbered with a flowerpot in recent history.
Okay, when he sits down at the bar and asks for lunch, there's bald patches on his wrists. But that's the most obvious evidence he ran into interesting events. "Hello again."
"I'm going to summarize," Deitmar says wearily, "and I'd prefer not to have interruptions until I'm done. . ."
Because some people react immediately to things like that in a Pavlovian manner, he waits to see if she has an interruption to make before he gets started.
"Right," he says, and plunges ahead. "I've been the subject of one of the recent and more disturbing rashes of strange events. One person has been following me, watching me, sending odd notes, and similar behavior. It's escalated, and most recently I was knocked out, restrained, and temporarily imprisoned. Obviously I freed myself, but he's still around and probably still affected. I was given a possible antidote for his obsessed state. I don't intend to get close enough to give it to him myself."
There.
She does not get the there was poetry part of the complaint, although in a way it's as objectionable as the flowerpot. At least it wasn't Vogons.

Maybe blows. She'd like it if there was violence

He'd like it if there were violence too, but unless he gets to take the guy permanently out of the way, there's no point.
