Doc returns to his room and changes into clothes that are a bit more suitable (and drier) for longbow practice with Will. A light shirt, long sleeved, and a pair of cotton slacks. His gloves, a newer pair without a hole in the hand, are tucked into his breast pocket

Will had gathered up his longbow and talked to Bar about getting another practice bow that'll be Doc's size and is waiting at the range when Doc arrives.

Neither of the bow's have been strung yet since Will wants to teach Doc how to do the process and he looks more like one of Robin's men sitting on the stump near the range, with a quiver on his back and a longbow in his hand.

It's easy for Doc to picture Will among the trees with the bow in hand, sword at his hip, and it makes him smile a little and forget about the worries he has for the Captain.

Because knowing you're about to get schooled in something, well, that's encouraging.

When Will sees Doc he waves and motions for him to come over and handing one of the bows over,

"'ave ye e'er strung a bow 'fore or 'andled one, Doc?"

"Held one once but never shot one, and never strung one," Doc says. "You'll have to show me how to."

He looks interested in learning.
