This is so not where Danny wanted to be.

He'd been going up to the rooftop with Jordan. Private talk. Apologies. Backing off.

This is definitely not the rooftop.

And as he looks behind him... yep, no Jordan.

This might explain Danny's irritated glare at the bar in general. Just maybe.

This isn't the bathroom either.

Matt was dressed, he'd arrived at the lot where the dinner was being held, his shoes were shiny and everything. Luke hadn't arrived yet, so this was no time to get stuck here.

Even less so does he expect to back right into Danny.

Matt flails. "What the hell are you doing here?"

Danny doesn't flail, exactly. Because Danny is too cool for flailing. But what he's doing now must be the Danny equivalent of flailing.

"I was trying to talk to Jordan somewhere private, but there are people all over the studio!" He's very annoyed about this. Apparently Danny's under the impression that when he needs somewhere private to talk, the entire studio should just clear out for his convenience.

A moment later, he stops and frowns. "What're you doing here?"

"I'm waiting for Harriet to show up and keeping a weather eye out for Luke, only I had to go to the bathroom, and--"

He gesticulates, eloquently and forcefully.

And then there's the reaction show. "Where were you thinking of finding a people-free spot in the studio?"

"Well, you know, I can't use my office, and there's people everywhere else, so... the roof?" There's a pause. "You know, Harriet was just leaving the studio when I ran into Jordan."

Staring ensues. Also, disbelief.

"What are you, Batman? Why didn't you use my office?"

We'll talk about the Harry thing later, once Matt gets over the ridiculous image of his best friend leading his boss up onto the studio roof.

"The walls are glass, Matt. People can see right in."

On top of not being heard, Danny would also apparently like to not be visible either. This might be so that he can't embarrass himself further in front of anyone but Jordan.

"It's an exec talking to a network president, nobody'll pay attention!"

(Okay, that's a complete lie, since everybody and their mother knows about how Danny would like to be nowhere else in the world as up the proverbial tree with Jordan McDeere, but it helps to pretend.)

"Also, there are blinds, in case you may have forgotten." Plus you can't lock yourself in.

"Well, it's a little late for that. I'm going to go back out there, and I'm going to take her out to the roof, and I'm going to tell her I'm not pursuing her anymore. And then, with luck, everyone will forget this ever happened."

"You had to separate her from the herd to tell her you weren't pursuing her anymore?"

"Well, when you put it like that, it sounds a little crazy," he admits grudgingly. "It's a private conversation, that's all."

"You could have gone to her office. That would have been chivalrous." Sort of like what Matt's doing right now, in fact. Besides, Jordan's got a nice office, for a suit.

"But it's... in the other building. And she was all dressed up for the dinner."

Danny, whatever way you phrase this, it's not going to look at all like a sane idea.

This gives Matt a moment's pause.

"You said Harry was just leaving when you saw her?"

The antsiness is going to start up again in five... four... three... two...

One.

"Yes," Danny says, and eyes Matt the way you'd eye a bomb that may or may not go off. Not that Matt would cause any harm (probably), he'd just drive everyone in the same room crazy.

Matt is busy calculating. Not in a devious sort of way, but in a, "If I take traffic into account, how late is she going to be so I can get back there in time to surprise her?" kind of way.

"I spent a lot of money on things I don't like to go to this dinner for her, you know," he mentions. Casually. As I'm sure he hasn't mentioned at all during the past week or so.

"I think at this point, it's possible that everyone in the world but Harriet knows."
