Faye is wandering around, trying to find something to do. She misses her friends, and wants to figure out how to go home. Being bound, in her opinion, gets boring after a while.

It feels like one of those "what did the character forget to do? why are they reliving their day over and over again?" type books, and frankly, Faye is tired of it.

It seems there's another person wandering around!

Of course, this one is a tall, well-built man with longish hair that he's pulled back in a ponytail, wandering around and staring intently at a datapad, mumbling names under his breath.

"Maea, no, no good, Martic, eh, Marana, hmm, could be could...Marana Estillo? Marana Pernon? Martic Estillo-Pernon?"

Possibly, he isn't looking where he's going. Possibly, he may bump inelegantly into Faye's arm.

Possibly.

Faye turns. "I'm so glad that you're so preoccupied that you've forgotten basic rules of manners," she says.

...ack. He's been caught.

Rial takes a moment to turn off the datapad and stow it in a pocket before sweeping a low bow, coming up with (what he hopes is) a charming smile.

"Ah, my lady, my most humble apologies. I'm afraid I didn't quite see you there...I trust you are not injured? Might I make it up to you somehow?"

She rolls her eyes and waves it off. "A simple sorry would have done fine, really. What were you doing that's got you so wrapped up in things, anyway?"

"Baby names," he explains, offering a wry grin. She's taking it far better then some of the ladies at court, really. His mother's friends like to make him fetch their tea or demand extensive apologies.

Or. Well. Liked. When he was younger, maybe.

"It's a difficult subject."

"Ah, having a baby, are you?" she says with a grin. "Do you know if it's going to be a girl or a boy?"

"Well...not actually me, per se, my wife. And ah, yes, actually, she's a girl."

His daughter, and that never fails to send him floating off into thought for a moment. He does shake himself out of it fast, though, in time to say "Actually, I'm sorry, I never caught your name. Miss...?"

"Well, yes, but--you as a couple are having a baby. Congratulations."

She holds out a hand. "Faye. Faye Whitaker. And yours?"

"Ah! Yes. That we are. Thanks very much."

He shakes her hand, half-inclining his head again. "Rial Pernon. Nice to meet you, Faye. Any children of your own?"

She laughs a bit. "No. I'm not in a relationship. I love kids, though."

"Ah, of course. Are you a working woman, then?"

A quick grin, and he nods. "I love them too. Always wanted children of my own, really."

"Depends on your definition. I make coffee for people who want it and can pay for it," she says. "Working woman can have a nasty connotation where I'm from--I'm not sure if you were aware, though. You seem to have some pretty royal manners."

She shrugs and nods. "Stuff happened. I'm not sure if I'll have kids, but we'll see."
