The full moon is steadily creeping up again, thus Captain Ryan is much more comfortable outdoors than in. Of course that doesn't mean he's just standing about out there. You'll find him over near the pells beating out a steady wood-on-wood tattoo.

He's been there awhile.

Harry pauses nearby, wearing a sweater and keeping her hands in her pockets.

For a bit she watches. The rhythm is soothing.

Isn't it? The practice is a sort of meditation for Ryan. It's a good way to release tension, when he actually releases it and doesn't fuel it further and wind up going insane.

That's only happened once.

He hasn't noticed her yet.

She leans against a tree and fights the urge to hum.

It's interesting, watching him. They hadn't exactly had a great conversation last time.

Well, she did just spring on him that a huge terrorist attack happened 10 days after you died. You try and be Mr. Cheerful after that.

Not that Ryan is Mr. Cheerful anyway. (Except when he's a puppet.)

The movement at the corner of his eye is enough to attract his attention, though, and he shoots a quick glance towards Harriet's tree just enough to see who it is. Then he finishes his progression. For those who've seen Spoon in action, Ryan is nowhere near as graceful or smooth, but if all you can compare him to is a human, well, it's actually quite nice to look at.

He lowers the wooden sword to his side and turns to face his audience. "Harriet," he says with a small smile (no teeth), meeting her eyes. He isn't even breathing hard.

Harriet grins.

"Hi," she says, brightly. "That was really cool."

Ryan tilts his head in acknowledgement. "Thank you, though I have to admit it's rather easy to defeat an opponent that doesn't move," he says lightly, ticking the sword against the pell.

Harriet shrugs.

"Was it really about beating something?"

"More preparation to defeat something," he agrees.

She looks a little surprised. "You don't just kill things by going..."

She puts two fingers up to her ears and looks more like a demented rabitt than wolf.

He chuckles a little. "It's rather more involuntary than that," he says, amused. "I only know of one person who can change at will, and he's rather mad." Not that Ryan isn't trying to change that.

The one person part, not the rather mad part.

"Huh." Harry says, "Does the moon affect you here? We're kind of outside time and space."

"A full moon is still a full moon. Three nights out of twenty-eight, I'm not really fit for company," Ryan says dryly.

"You and me both," Harriet says.

She manages a straight face.

That gets a flat look and and utterly false smile. Ryan doesn't appreciate the comparison.

The poor baby.

"What brings you outside?" he asks, keeping his tone pleasant.

Pity. Harriet kind of thought it was appropriate. And funny. Men just can't laugh at menstruation.

"Well, I was cooped up on sound stages all day. It's more pleasant." She smiles brightly. "Want to take a walk?"

He considers suggesting a run instead, but this close to the moon with something that could be considered prey, well, it could devolve into a chase all too easily. Better to play it safe.

"All right," he answers with a more genuine smile, no teeth. He hesitates a moment about what to do with the wooden sword before he shoves it through his belt. It occurs to him that he should get a scabbard, not because the practice sword needs one, but because if he ever does actually fight with a sword, he'll be wearing a scabbard when he does so. It would be a good idea to get used to however that may impede him.

"Did rehearsal go poorly, then?"
