Sometimes, melancholy just sneaks up on you. You see something, or hear something, and it reminds you of someone who's gone. It just happens.

So there's an Ace curled up on the couch with hot cocoa and a Doberman on the floor, Ace reading a book and Magic gnawing on a rawhide bone.

Yeah, it has a tendency to come wandering out of the shadows when you least expect it. Pain in the arse, isn't it?

There's still room on the couch, or there was before Wells sat down with his beer. "Evening, Ace," he murmurs. He's not gonna disturb her if she'd rather the quiet.

"Hullo Wells." She pokes his leg with her (nonbooted) foot. "You've been busy. Haven't seen y'as much 'round the farm. Girls a'right?"

"Yeah, they're fine. Coming on a lot better these days, actually- I've got a good six or eight who're damn near ready for field testing, so I'm tryin' to put more of an edge on 'em," Wells says. "Can't hurt to make sure this batch's better than the last, I figure. How've you been, other than active?"

"Good, actually. Started headin' out again. Actually got chased back t'the bar by a shrimp-shootin'... thing. It was very fishy." Sometimes, her 'verse is just too weird for truth.

"An'. Y'know. There's Spoon."

"Um."

Ace might not have noticed the small man curled up on the floor near the trilobite tank. He's easy to miss, and likes it that way. Encourages it, even. But he's there all the same, eyeing the doberman with clear reservations.

"Does that eat people?"

Apparently he is a little afraid of dogs. Just a little.

"Yes." Says Ace, dryly. "That's why I let her lay about in the bar without a leash or a muzzle. People are tasty."

Sometimes, it helps not to ask Ace the obvious questions. She is entirely too given to snark.

"Oh." He flashes a nervous smile for just a second. "Um, well, you never know. I mean, they let the Devil run around without a leash and collar. And children. Little ones. They're all right, but... I mean... you know?"

Hippie at 2:00, Ace.

Also, that book he's fairly cowering behind is HUGE.

[ooc: Also, apologies in advance if tagging gets slow. Having connection issues tonight.]

"Oh yes. I know." Ace nods encouragingly. "I'd prefer the devil in submissive gear, but you know, I think he balked at the whip and facemask. It's so hard to get a good submissive these days. Dunno about the little kids though, that sort of thing can get you arrested an' used as a bitch by big men behind bars."

Brothers help with melancholy, right?

Or possibly powder sugar on the nose does?

Raven can provide both!

Brothers help. Sugar also helps, as Spoon has figured out, but brothers help.

"Raven! I have sommat for you. But y'gotta guess." She demands cheerily, while glomping him.

Raven hugs back, possibly because it buys him time to think.

"It is cookies, perhaps?"

Starting with the easiest things first is wise!

"Nope!" Ace grins. It was close though. There was consideration put into the idea of thumbprint cookies.

*Meg's been doing her best to avoid melancholy, recently.

. . . ice cream and alcohol and bad cartoons have helped a lot with that (although maybe not as much as she would like.) She would recommend them.*

Salut, Ace!

Her favorite French person! Never mind that Ace doesn't know any other people from France. Meg is, after all, also her favorite ballerina.

Ace only knows one ballerina.

"Hullo Meg! Haven't seen you in ages, how goes?"

Oh - ca va, *Meg says, waving her hand, and grins back at Ace.

Ace is totally her favorite Timelord.

(She may even have been introduced to another one! Once! Anyways, the point still stands.)*

I've been around, but I guess not around around - anyways how have you been?
