Kaylee has her feet propped up on the chair next to hers.

Caffeine may be right out; strawberries are not. And she rather thinks she deserves the big bowl of them close to her hand.

'Satisfied' is radiating from her table in waves. Lines of majesty, even.

"Benny, come on!"

Jordan isn't really dancing around Peter, she's too sleepy for that. But she is a little bouncy because she likes the repair-lady.

Kaylee looks up -- and beams at them.

...there's maybe a little surprise there, considering she...had no clue Peter and Jordan knew each other, but: no bad!

"Hey, you two. -- you three."

There is a dog, after all. "What's the story?"

"Hey." Peter's grinning a little self-consciously. "Jordan's mom and dad aren't here, so we figured we'd come find you until they show up."

"Benny knocked me over and the door closed and then I had to find him, but Peter helped!"

Jordan grins.

"Hi!"

The door closed -- that isn't good. Kaylee's smile only looks fixed for a moment before she grins back at Jordan. "Hey. So this is Benny."

He'd come up, the last time she and Jordan talked.

And then she looks at Peter. "'Course he did." Kaylee pulls down her feet from the chair. "You two want to sit a while? Plenty of strawberries to go around and whatnot."

"Strawberries sounds good." Peter takes the other vacant chair, still holding onto Benny's collar, and snags one. He did leave his dinner half-eaten over on the other table.

Jordan nods, climbing up into her own chair.

"Benny's a good dog."

He is! Even when he gets her in trouble.

"Can I have a strawberry, too?"

"You go right on, xiǎo jie cháng." Kaylee's smile doesn't quite get fixed again. "Jordan, I'm wondering -- "

She slides a quick glance at Peter, and in that instant she's not smiling.

Back to Jordan. "Can you see the front door?"

Peter's eye meet hers, and his own smile flickers.

Jordan is cheerfully munching on a strawberry.

"Did it go somewhere?"

"I don't know -- why don't you turn around and see?"

She might be trying to come up with contingency plans -- what do you do with a Bound six-year-old with parents on the outside? Serenity? A room here? And six is entirely too young for a girl to go without supervision.

"Okay."

Jordan does, chewing on another strawberry.

Then she turns back to Kaylee, looking confused.

"It's still there. Does yours play hide and seek?"

She appears excited by that prospect.

Kaylee can't quite hide her relief. "Nope, but -- " She nods to Peter. "His does, every now and again."

Peter looks relieved, too. And palms another strawberry in celebration.

"It does," he tells Jordan, with reasonable cheer. "I think I'm catching on to its tricks, though."

Jordan giggles.

Benny's tail wags.

Jordan drops him a strawberry.

"Do all the things here move?"
