Oh dear. More first-timers. An angry one, at that.

He raises an eyebrow. It's been quite some time since he was in their shoes.

"It's quite alright, you know. As long as you can see the door, you can go right back out again."

A pause.

"Usually."

Jim looks back, seeing a door very much there.

"Right. I'm good with that."

Pretending this never happened sounds very good for his sanity right now. Maybe Dwight hit him from the back when they entered and this was just some weird dream, after all - it didn't seem that unlikely.

It's a rare occasion that Dwight is at a loss for words but today is a rare sort of day.

Mouth agape, he stares, not believing what he sees.

It's not everyday you run into someone famous and certainly not someone you've idolized for years.

"It can be a bit disconcerting the first time you're here. You're at Milliways, by the way. Restaurant and bar at the end of the universe."

He notices Dwight's gaping. Bloody hell, he doesn't look like someone from his world... but that look of recognition is one Tom's had before.

He takes a large drink of his scotch.

"Er, your first drink's free."

Jim, on the other hand, isn't that bothered by Dwight looking weird. Because it's... Dwight.

This however does nothing to help Jim find out what exactly the hell is going on. And 'bar at the end of the universe' tends to sound like nonsense if you've never heard of such a thing.

"Uh... we're from Pennsylvania," he ends up saying, slowly. "So - don't think we're supposed to be here."

At the mention of drinking, Dwight seems to snap to.

"Can't. We're on business. Alcohol dulls the senses and weakens the resolve."

"Of... course."

Tom is from England of the 1950's. A drink or two with business was simply what was done.

"There's a wide range of non-alcoholic drinks available."

He turns to Jim. "Actually, if you end up here, you're generally supposed to be here. For some reason or another. I'm Tom Riddle, by the way, Lord Ostium of the House of Arch."

... it's really like they've somehow wandered into on of Dwight's geeky fantasies.

"So - you're saying we somehow got from our office building to ... some randomly appearing restaurant?"

With Lords. There has to be a fault in logic somewhere around here.

That same goofy look appears on Dwight's face, followed by a small sound - almost a dreamy sigh. Looking back towards the door again, Dwight comes to the only logical conclusion.

The door had been a portkey and somehow they had entered the world of Harry Potter!

Regaining his composure and standing tall, Dwight finally says, "Pleased to make your acquaintance, Mr. Riddle. I'm Dwight Schrute and my associate here is Jim Halpert."

"Ah, good to meet you, too."

Dwight's expression is really confusing Tom. He wonders if Dwight does indeed know him... as a follower.

That's not happened before.

"And are you magic users?"

It's a fair question.

That Tom asks it so matter-of-factly makes Jim... stare more.

Temporarily forgetting his fake telekenisis, "I, uh. No."

That drink's actually starting to sound kind of good.

Under his breath, Dwigh hisses, "Idiot!"

It was no time to go announcing they were Muggles if they were in some sort of Death Eater tavern!

(Lying also had it's problems. He was pretty sure the pepper spray he carried wouldn't work on wizards if they were caught.)

Instead, Dwight decides to turn the tables and focus the questions on Riddle, "Are you?"

Obviously, he knew the answer. This was a test. To prove... something... that would be made clearer once Riddle answered. Yeah.

"Why yes, I am. Wizard. You'll find a variety of magical types here, along with many who are not."

He nods to Jim and smiles. "You look like a fellow who could use a drink. Come on, Bar serves the finest drinks you've ever tried."

He doesn't smile at Dwight. His furtive behavior reminds Tom of one of the worst kinds of Slytherins. He'll find out the truth about the fellow. Oh yes. He will.

ooc: You guys have made my night. Srsly. I need to sleep and I hope we can either pick this up or thread again sooooon

Jim... sort of tries to return the smile as politely, but that wizard thing? Still sort of weird.

"Uh, sure, if you don't - turn me into a newt or something."

"Don't worry. I hardly ever turn people into newts."

Dwight rolls his eyes and shakes his head at Jim. It was obvious Halpert had no idea who he was talking to and he'd have to do the thinking for both of them.

His expression hardens as he realizes the terrible peril they might be in right now. It all came down to him right now and he couldn't lose sight of that.

Though this resolve momentarily weakens as a thought pops into his mind, "Question: Do they have butterbeer?"
