Bartending

Mar 23, 2007 20:39

Garion, lacking a bartending icon FTWince, is settled at the bar, no drinks up on the board. He's got Beldaran with him, tucked into his arm and with the other he holds onto one of the drink recipe manuals, his lips quirking back and forth in indecision. Back and forth, back and forth, and eventually he closes it before laying it on the bar ( Read more... )

Link sits down at the bar, barely glancing at the specials board. He looks a bit distracted, no where near his normally somewhat cheerful self.

"Evening, Garion. An ale, if you don't mind."

After a short moment, he looks over, and sees Beldaran. The young child manages to make him smile a little.

"And good evening to you, young lady."

He serves up, easy enough even with the bar asleep, and nudges the glass towards Link. Beldaran, big green eyes wide and bright, smiles at Link.

"Hello."

She's smaller than most children, with copper curls and skin that's pale and just faintly almost green. If there's any way to tell, she 'feels' like a tree.

Well, he doesn't have such a sense, but she does somehow remind him of his home village, where you can't walk five feet without running into a tree.

He smiles somewhat, taking the ale with a nod of thanks to Garion.

"You must be the lovely young daughter Garion told me of, then. A pleasure to meet you."

Link enjoys children. As much of a handful the ones from his village can be, he'd always feel better around children.

Oh, this little one is a handful. She behaves for strangers, though. It doesn't do to act out in public.

"It is indeed. Beldaran, this is Link. Link, Beldaran."

He only wishes Malo, Talo, and Beth had such tact. At least Colin was well behaved.

He chuckles and gives Beldaran a slightly melodramatic bow, before looking back at her father.

"How have you been, Garion?"

"Very well," he says. "Or as well as I can be at the moment. There's a bit of a situation at home, though thankfully this place gives us the time to heal and plans."

She bows her head to Link as a princess should.

"Oh?" Link says with some concern. "Nothing too serious, I hope."

"Extremely serious," he answers tiredly. "And I thought I was done with all of this nonsense, quite frankly."

"Well," he says, "If there is anything that I could do to help, I would be glad to do so."

Link has a funny habit of doing potentially life threatening things for people he's met only once or twice.

He considers that.

"Let me explain before you offer," he says. "Though I probably won't turn you down. This? Is a nasty situation."

Link nods, listening intently.

"Go on."

"A number of demons were running around my world during a rather important Event a few years ago," he says, remembering the trip as if it were yesterday. "We heard that some of them had bred with human women. My Aunt warned us all that a child of such a union would be a horror unlike any other, but when we accomplished our goals," right the universe and get Garion's son back, "we sort of assumed that everything would be fixed.

"It wasn't.

"Now there are three different locations in my world where rips between my world and Hell are allowing horrible things through that could cause no small amount of trouble.

"And this is, as per usual, my job."

Link listens quietly. After a moment of thought, he looks back to Garion.

"My offer still stands. My sword is at your disposal."

Sure, it sounds like something of an intimidating task, but he's willing to help.

He raises an eyebrow in surprise before nodding in appreciation.

"I'll keep that in mind. We'll probably need you."

"Just tell me when I'm needed."

Then his tone of voice changes to being far more pleasant. He's never been completely comfortable speaking of such grave matters around young children, and he doesn't want to upset Beldaran.

"But beyond this whole situation, things have been fairly good?"

Beldaran just watches, though as soon as his voice brightens, she makes grabby hands towards Link.

"Yes, rather good. I haven't been out much, regainin my strength mostly and making sure I'm in top shape to handle things."
