Got Them Hacker Blues - Or Purples

Mar 22, 2007 13:41

Sometimes, when one is writing a program, one comes across a major snag - some problem so big that the only way to solve it is to essentially bash one's head against a metaphorical brick wall for a few days, until some revelation comes upon them from the divine above or the subconscious below that allows them to make that leap of genius critical to reaching their goal.  It's a wonderful feeling, when the revelation comes, but it's always preceeded by a certain amount of head-bashing.

Mouse is in the head-bashing phase right now, and she has been since last cycle.  Ray Tracer, darling fellow that he is, made a tremendous effort to cheer her up, but that succeeded only for a few microseconds.  She is now back at work, sitting in a booth, her portable workstation on a table in front of her.  The workstation and vidwindows are displaying the results of various sensor readings, real-time energy fluctuations, and rotating images of purple cubes laced with electricity.  Mouse is poring over these, trying to tease an answer from them, knowing that she must be missing something.

The cup of java beside her went cold a while ago, and her eyes are getting kind of glazed.  Maybe someone should distract her for a while.

[OOC: This is mostly intended for Bob or Hiro Protagonist, but anyone's welcome to reply.]
