The thing is, Ajedrez is likable. She is curvy and bouncy and likeable, and part of the whole being likable is being helpful with a smile.

Sitting in a crowded stand, hands over her eyes, peeking through her fingers as she watched him work

The accent is, perhaps, different. She speaks English fluently, and sounds American, but if you listen, there is something more Latin there.

"Ah, si. A demon. It is....strange."

He cannot get over her looking like his ex-girlfriend who he abandoned on that steamy rainy afternoon all those years ago.
