He folds the newspaper, because this is much better.

"Suzi. How've you been? Aside from not-dead, which is obviously a good bar to stay at."

"Whistler changed subspecies for me, I have an apprentice who is a dead werewolf, I was in an interstellar war, Belar's Tree promised that I'll be able to be a channel again sometime, and I have lots of shoes." Red. Red shoes, with high heels.

"Lucky thing. Go back to the subspecies bit. How? What?"

That's quite an indication of love.

"Garion." She says firmly, "Whistler asked Garion, and Garion made magic happen, and Whistler is now Gen." She so agrees.

"Garion was one of the first... four? People I talked to when I came to the bar. Nice fellow. Very helpful."

Especially in this case, it seems.

"You're obviously still going strong."

[sime_channel]

"Very tall." She agrees, "And sometimes stupid. He went after demons alone so he's in the infirmary. I don't understand what you mean by going strong, though?"

"It means you and your beau- Whistler- are still together and doing great."

He nods approval.

"I really need to meet him."

[sime_channel]

"He's tall, dark, and carries a white stick." She says cheerfully, "You should meet him, he's wonderful. We are going strong, he loves me and I love him."

"Great. Have you met Ramon, by the way?"

He has to pause.

"He's... dificult to get along with sometimes."

This is diplomatic-speak for 'a lot of people hate him that get along with Random quite amiably.'

"Don't think so." She says after a minute, "Um. If I did it was long enough ago that I don't remember. I'm pretty good at getting along with most people."

Collecting borderline-evil people seems to be a hobby of hers.

"Tell him you know me and he should try. He hasn't been around much, either, though. Matter of fact, this is the first time I've been in the bar in forever."

Good to be back, though.

"Okay." She says cheerfully, "If I meet him, I will."

"So, what else interesting has been going on in my absence?"

He glances around.

"Nothing's been blown up?"

"Nothing new, anyway." She says with a wave to the Window, "Were you here for the Tofu and the puppets?"

"I heard a rumour."

He winces.

"Bar done any more poisoned food since? Ramon got hit with the chocolate."
