Ace tilts her head at the sign, and then at Mal.

"Does Cap'n Mu Ji count?" She asks, hopefully. The only other thing she has is the line about the sons of motherless goats.

"The mu ji part does," Mal laughs. "Was wondering when someone'd try to use that one on me. What would you like?"

"More chocolate alcohol please!" The bartender before Mal gave Ace quite a lot of chocolate alcohol.

One might consider it a minor miracle (or the result of a monstrous unintended problem with fatality) that she's not completely loopy at this point.

"Exactly how much choco-booze have you had today, Time Lady?" Mal asks incredulously.

[nitro_is_ace]

"... No idea. S'not like it matters." She shrugs, off-handedly. "C'mon, it's tasty. Maybe a doctored bit of cocoa?"

"Sure."

Mal fixes up the hot chocolate with as much alcohol you can pull off in a drink without it actually smelling like booze, and Mal places the mug and saucer in front of Ace's seat.

Ace grins broadly.

"Ta! So, what've you been up to then?"

Because her life is boring and not worth talking about. Unless you like fruitless hunts for giant squid.

"Absolutely nothin'."

Said with a grimace and a twitch for something amusing to occupy his time with.

"Been thinkin' about a tattoo."

"Sommat with barb wire, I think. An' wings. Maybe one of those cat-scratch tattoos." Ace suggests, sipping on her cocoa.

Perhaps it is best to keep Ace away from the tattoo guns.

"I don't even know where I'd go to get one done."

Ping! Idea.

"Wanna sponsor a field trip?"

"If y'don't mind waitin' for me t'find a giant squid first." Ace replies, with a shrug. "I can't put Ingress off f'much longer, an' I haven't the faintest where that thing's gotten off to."

Mal facepalms.

"Is this somethin' I'm actually wanting to hear the story on?"

[nitro_is_ace]

"There is, or was, rather, in the lake out back, a giant squid." Mal's going to hear this story whether he wants to or not. "And it was friends with Ingress. An' then someone, for reasons unknown, squidnapped Mr. Julia Fruitnugget, by which I mean the squid. There is, of course, another squid in the lake now, but it is a different squid, and quite unsatisfactory for making friends with, evidently. So now I need to find the missing giant squid. Who hopefully hasn't been turned into a giant plate of calamari somewhere along the way."

"Nobody went lookin' for it before?" Mal asks.

He's been around Milliways long enough to force himself to not ask about the origin of the name of said squid.

"Evidently not. Didn't rank in the register of disasters, I suppose. B'sides, how does one find a missing squid? S'not like it comes when called." Also, people carrying giant fish tanks are evidently invisible.

Katara totally caught Hiro's gesture. There is a mustache'd girl grinning at Ace.

"Hi! I'm Katara, Hiro's friend - he says you're really nice."
