You know that feeling you get when you're being watched? Well, this feeling is similar, so Rapunzel glances around and sees a girl with an interesting hairstyle nearby.
It's still very pretty. If she sits here long enough, Rapunzel's will be just as long, but not really able to braid it as nicely, because of the fast growth.
"It's no bother. I'm just shopping for a dress to wear to a special dinner with a friend. I need to look fancy."
Katara would thank her for the compliment if she could hear it. And likely go on about the tradition of the style and her grandmother and so on. It would be cute.
She lights up a little to hear Rapunzel's plans, her eyes wandering back to the dresses with unrestrained interest. "That should be easy! They're all so beautiful!"
Brow rise and lips part, Katara making no attempts to hide her pleasure at being included or at the dress itself. "Oooooh, that one's perfect. The woman in the picture even has your coloring!"
Pale and blonde, that is. Apparently a perfect mix for purple!
Katara seems more than a little surprised at a decision so quickly made. Even if she isn't about to stop Rapunzel from doing it. After all, the dress was pretty!
Pretty enough that Katara can't even try to hide her glee when the offer comes for her to see it. "Ooh, yes! I mean-- if it's okay, you know..."
She takes the lid from the box and lifts the dress out, holding it up in front of her to make sure it's long enough. She'll check the fit later, in her room, but for now she smiles.
"I think it's the right choice. Thank you...I'm sorry, I don't know your name. I'm Rapunzel."
Sometimes, she really was less of a Master Waterbender, more of a teenage girl who wouldn't mind occasionally playing dress-up in something other than leather.
Startled out of her clothing-lust, Katara blinks and then smiles a little sheepish when names come around. "That's okay. I'm Katara. It's nice to meet you!"
Katara is, very obviously so, not used to being complimented like this. It turns her dark face absolutely pink - about as pink as the dress is, really. "Th-thank you - Rapunzel is really pretty, too. I've never heard that name before!"
As for the dress, glancing to it gets her back in dress-lust, 'ooh'ing softly. "That's really nice, too. We don't have these kinds of styles or anything in my world, but-- I mean, it'd be really impractical for me to have it. I wouldn't be able to wear it anywhere.
Katara just giggles to hear it, grinning back. "Well, it's a really pretty lettuce, then, I guess! Why were you named after lettuce?"
As for the bar, she nods and swivels in her chair - facing Rapunzel, rather than her magazine. "I've been here for a while. I went back home for a really long time, though - a few months. But I think I'm going to stay a while this time."
"Ah, well, that's a long story, but my parents were very foolish people. They stole from a witch while my mother was pregnant with me, and the witch took me from them as payment, and named me."
It's a strange tale, but it's hers. She smiles when she hears that Katara spends a lot of time in the bar.
There may be someone peeking over her shoulder from the bar.
It's absolutely possible.

"Hello," she says in a friendly way.

...not that that's at all new or novel to Rapunzel, of course.
Startling when she's spoken to, Katara looks a little sheepish for the staring, but smiles in return. "Hi... I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bother you."

She slides the catalog to the side so that the girl can see it more clearly.
"I think I've narrowed it down to this one. What do you think?"

She turns the picture over on the bar, and asks the glossy wood to provide that particular dress in a size eight and charge it to her card.
A white box appears on the bar, and Rapunzel beams. She turns to the girl and asks, "Would you like to see it?"

Especially since-- dresses!

The clothing-lust is fairly obvious, and makes Rapunzel smile.
"I'll be you'd look really nice in a salmon color... there was dress in here..."
She flips back through the pages of the catalog, and finds what she was looking for.
"Ah, yes! this one would look great on you. Or something in a similar color. Of course, you're much prettier than the model."

She says it with a grin.
"But thank you. She really doesn't look it, does she? I guess it makes the dress look all the prettier. Do you come to the bar often?"

For friends.
And boys.
