Rapunzel is a little sad to find that the weather outside did not last, but it had been a wonderful weekend, for the most part ( Read more... )

Not far behind her in entering the Bar is a certain friend of hers.

"Good morning," Alex says quite chipperly as he nears.

{ooc: did you get my e-mail?]

"Morning!" she says with a smile. "Got time to join me for a cuppa?"

"Always." Alex sits next to Rapunzel, taking the opportunity as he does to lean in for a morning hug and kiss. "Any luck finding a dress?"

"I'm narrowing it down. There are a lot to choose from, and I really want to look the part."

She waves to a waitrat to bring more coffee, and studies him.

"You're looking awfully bright and cheerful. The margaritas didn't do any permanent damage, I see/"

"Nope, though I was not exactly in great shape yesterday. It was a great party, but next time Bernard goes all out, remind me that I need suntan lotion, antacid and six weeks in the gym. I was quite achey from the swimming." And perhaps from other activities best left private.

"And how are you today?" He sips his coffee, the one drink he knows is his friend all the time.

"Poor baby."

She sips her coffee and sighs contentedly.

"A little sorry to see the warm weather go, but otherwise, I'm great!"

She sips again and bites her lip briefly.

"I met another Fable at the lake party."

He's ready to tell her she's always great, not being one to miss a chance to flirt, but that lip-bite gets his attention.

"Oh? You don't sound too thrilled about that."

"Yeah, well...I'm not. It's Goldilocks."

She tries to think back and remember whether or not she's ever really explained about Goldilocks.

"She's the one who shot Snow White in the head. I...we all thought she was dead."

She hadn't mentioned it. Which is a little awkward as...

"I...Rachel mentioned that a Goldilocks was here. So did another friend of mine, Steph Brown. But I hadn't thought...I should have said something...I didn't know." Only one thing to do. He gives her a hug.

"You want to talk about it?"

"You had no reason to really associate her with me."

She sips her coffee and tries not to look as troubled as she feels.

"I understand that there isn't any business in the bar, and that people can change, but...I don't think I buy it. She said that she is friends with people on security here, and the head barman, and that she was popular. That makes me wonder what kind of snowjob she's done on these people to make them believe she's a good person."

He stops to give this a little thought. "I think you have to go with your instinct. If your gut tells you she's still a killer, then be careful around her. But...don't expect many people to listen. Con artists are hard to dislodge if everyone is buying the con. And I'm guessing she's as much a con artist as anything.

"That said...do you want me to talk to Rachel or Steph about her a bit more? I know Rae will hear me out, and I think Steph might." As a reporter, he likes to get all the sides of the story. As Rapunzel's man, he's sure her side is the right one.

"I just...don't think she can be trusted. She led a rebellion against the city Fables with some of the Farm Fables, and cold-bloodedly tried to murder Snow...I talked to her at the lake party, and she just kind of shrugged it off like it was no big deal. All of the others that helped her was executed or imprisoned, but she never tried to save any of them, because that would have meant risking herself.

"Then she said that she had been staying with a man - a Fable - that had been dead for some time before. I just...don't trust her. I'd hate to see her gain the trust of good people here, only to be duped and hurt by her later. Her record speaks against her."

He listens intently, but has no idea what to do. He's never seen her like this since they met. While part of him always knew that the funloving woman he's made part of his life and his nights wasn't always going be all smiles, it's strange to see anyway. So he just takes her hand and squeezes.

"I'd be lying if I told you how to make people listen. This isn't home, where I could just get the word out in the paper. This is...well, it's a small town, and sometimes people can come to small towns from big cities and fool everyone.

"But we know the truth, and maybe we can try to talk to people. Carefully. Let them know the full story, make them think."

"I'm just confused. I didn't mean to drag you into it. I don't expect you to do anything about it. Is it even my place to warn people? Is it my responsibility? She said this place had changed her, but I think she'd say anything to anyone if she thought it would help her."

She squeezes back.

"I think I'm just going to have to think about it, and go with instinct and what I already know about her."

He smiles at her. "You aren't dragging me into it, Raps. We're friends, right? And the way I understand it, when a friend has a problem, you are there for her. Or him.

"Besides, you know me. I like a little gossip." He smile goes a bit cheeky. "When you decide what you want people to know, tell me, and if you want, I can talk with Rachel. She's good with reading people, and maybe she's read Goldie and can tell me something that will help."

"I'd like to know what she thinks about her and her motives, to be honest. It might not change my opinion, but it couldn't hurt to ask her."
