Being out here in a bikini isn't so bad now that it's night. The water's still warm, and it's not dark over here by the bonfire. She's just sitting, really, in the water, letting it lap over her.

A few ripples in the dark water and Lyrae rose up taking a breath, and nodded calmly to her. Only Lyrae's head and white shoulders were visible above the water's surface, her hair pulled back in a stiff braid.

Kira doesn't outwardly jump.

Inwardly though it's a keyboard mash.

"Hi, Lyrae." Kira says softly, straightening a bit.

Lyrae nodded calmly, her body held calmly in place in the water as if standing on the bottom, though it was far beneath her feet.

"Greetings, Child."

Lyrae considered for a moment, adjusting a strap on her all but hidden swimsuit.

"While I prefer the ocean, it is quite pleasant regardless."

"I've never gone swimming in a lake." She says, glancing at it warily. "Manaan, however, is one huge ocean...very nice. Except the giant sharks."

Lyrae pondered the surface of the water for a time before answering.

"The world sea was very pleasant where I lived. A lake is... much like an ocean, but without many of the intrinsic features. It is quite all right to swim, I should think."

Kira nods absentmindedly. She stands, after a moment and walks into the water till she's at waist-deep water, and just stands there.

Lyrae raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms.

"That is standing, Child. Not swimming."

"I haven't gone swimming in a long time." She says. "I'm trying to just...get used to it. Again."

A sigh from Lyrae. Swimming was not something forgotten, and hesitation was purposeless.

"Take a breath, Lady Kira."

Whether she heeded this advice or not, Lyrae channeled to produce a current intended to draw Kira into water. The lake around Lyrae glowed softly, the water shimmering with the golden light from her aura.

She took the breath, reflexively and then sputtered a lot as she was drawn into the water.

She broke the surface again, wet and glaring at Lyrae. "Kriff you."

Lyrae merely raised her chin and commented lightly.

"One swims by getting wet, Child."

"Maybe I didn't really want to go swimming all the way. I was fine with just standing there." Kira snaps, feeling like a petulant child as she moves back to where her feet can stand on solid ground.

She blinked in reply, and explained as if it were the most simple thing.

"Then, you would have specified your intention as wading, not as swimming."
