Here's something that hasn't been seen much. A relaxed Draco in the bar, lounging by the fireplace on one of the couches. There was some tea by him, and a few sandwiches. Casually glancing over a specialized Potions book, and lazily turning the pages with his wand. He was also observing the bar at large. No more of those felt and wood creatures, ( Read more... )

And her is a Miniver, flipping BACKWARDS over the back of the couch and sitting with his legs over the back.

"Hi! Gotcha somethin'."

If Draco were to stipulate that Miniver has already been hitting the booze today, Draco would be correct.

"AAAGH!" Draco yelped, and the book went flying onto the floor.

"Don't do that! I was comfortable!" Grumpy pout this time as he tried to get settle back on the couch. Book was Accio'd back.

"Sorry. What are you reading?"

He watches with fascination as Draco retrieves the book without moving, and wonders vaguely why any wizards even both still having bodies anymore.

"Potions," Draco idly replied.

There was then a sly grin, "Did I hear something about a present?"

"Yep."

He tosses onto Draco's lap a radio. It's a small thing, about the size of one of those clock radios one sees in hotel rooms, only without the clock part.

"Told you I'd get you one."

"Hmmm?" Draco picked it up quizzically, and fiddled with the knobs as he continued to lay stretched out on the couch.

"Oh right."

Miniver scoots upright and watches him.

"D'you know how it works?"

There's a casette deck in it, too. Miniver pokes a button and makes it click open.

"It actually doesn't. I tried it. Nothing but static. But it plays tapes just fine."

Draco shrugged, "I only know of wizard radio." More fiddling, and static.

He then asked, "Tapes?"

Miniver hands him a casette tape. "This is a totally new thing. Put it in, right? And it plays music. Way better than 8-tracks." Though he couldn't tell Draco exactly WHY. "This an ultra-ultra modern thing."

No one has yet introduced Miniver to the concept of a compact disc -- or, god forbid, music on a computer. If you tried to tell him computers were portable and could play music, he would laugh at you.

"8-tracks?" More blinking. Even a record would likely seem strange to him. And a computer? Hahahahahah... Though Lenny did show him a little about video games once.

Draco tried to put it in, the wrong way of course.

"Bloody thing doesn't even work!"

Miniver shows him the right way -- although with a little trial and error himself. Just... EDUCATED trial and error. Because of course, these things came on the market only three months before he came HERE and while he couldn't have afforded to buy one without saving for YEARS, he'd seen other people do it.

Even though the song was released two years after Miniver's time, because he got the tape from Bar, what it plays is "Hey Jude."

Draco seemed surprised when the music finally started, and he placed it on the table by him while he lounged. He listened quietly to it, reflective at the music.

"...And anytime you feel the pain, hey Jude, refrain
Don't carry the world upon your shoulders
For well you know that it's a fool who plays it cool
By making his world a little colder..."

Miniver watches Draco, and listens to the song. It's got a nice beat, and nice words. The Beatles, he figures, are great poets, whatever else they may be.

It was rather nice, so he didn't feel like talking while it played. Still wondering if they were actually wizards who felt like slumming amidst the muggles.

Miniver reached over Draco and turned it down when it got to the Na-na-na bit that went on a good 4 or 5 minutes.

"See? Not so bad, is it, Muggle music?"

Draco had closed his eyes to listen at some point during the song, but they blinked open again.

He smirked, "If you're sure they are Muggles."
