Yesterday...yesterday had been a good day. Or it had begun that way at least. Then she'd gone to the office and taken in a note and the lingering emotional miasma of a brother ( Read more... )

There is no better time of the month to hunt than the full moon. It is a good way to let off some steam.

Even so, it is mid-morning before there is noise, and a couple of demon rabbits break cover, a white shape at their heels. It is practically herding them. Manipulating them before it pounces.

When it passes close enough, however, it notices the figure on the lake, and slows, eventually stopping to look out at her.

She ignored the bunnies, they well knew to stay clear of her. And she didn't turn around to greet Yrael, gaze still fixed on the rising sun and perhaps the flames within it...

Her voice, when it came, pooled like Time itself, heavy and inevitable across the waters "Yrael, do you know what my purpose here is?"

There is a bright light, then there is a young man sitting crosslegged, there. He gets to his feet, slowly.

"I believe any answer I might give may be wrong in some way. I think your reason for being here is to heal, hopefully." That is what he would hope to see done, at least.

"My reason? Perhaps" she allowed with a grim, joyless chuckle.

"Archie asked me onto security, and I accepted. That is a Purpose, Yrael. To Protect." could he but see her expression, he might begin to wonder how much of that purpose has helped with her reason.

"Everyone"

Whatever else happens and wherever else he goes, Wells has a tendency to end up at the same place on the morning after a full moon night. His firepit is a good long distance away from the Bar proper for several reasons, privacy and safety among them, but it's near enough the lake that he can usually wash the worst of a full moon's blood off without encountering people.

At least, on mornings when the lake's not frozen over and there's no one over the lake.

Rachel was never the type to run screaming from blood all told...and she knew all too well the need to scrub it away. "Want it warmed?" she offered, not moving from her spot, but watching him all the same.

Well, there's no point in hiding, now, is there. "Would you?" Wells says. "I'll use snow if I've got to."

He's already started piecing together the fragmentary memories from the night before. It's a habit of his, even though he's pretty sure he'll never get them all.

She simply knelt and touched the icy fringes, letting her hand flicker and flame until the water steamed. "Any of that yours?" she asked genially.
