There is a Danny in the bar, sitting at a table by himself - he's got no idea where Matt is, but he assumes if Matt needs him, he'll find him. Matt's good at that

"So you know how I said I wasn't going to write anything while we were in Ithaca? I don't think that applies here. I think the rules have changed now that we're stuck in a pocket dimension at the end of the universe."
That's the kind of greeting you get when an increasingly frantic Matt unceremoniously paces past from you, massaging his temple just to have something to do with his hands.
It's not that he has nothing to do, it's that he's completely unequipped to do anything he's good for here.
See? Danny knew Matt would find him when he needed him. It's like magic or something.
He glances up as Matt walks by him, not bothering to hide a bit of a smile. He'd been keeping a mental count of how long it took for Matt to get to this point. "You think so?"
"Because we've been locked out of Ithaca, New York, which is three thousand miles from our show!" He grabs his hair and turns around. "And did I mention we're in a pocket dimension at the end of the universe? There are creatures here who belong at tabletop gaming night!"
Matt turns in a doubtful, cagey sort of circle for a moment.
"I want my laptop. It's got all my notes on it. And April said I could just get one here, but it's not the same. And anyway, how the hell am I going to get whatever I write on it back home?" Very intently, he drops into the seat. "Have you considered the possibility of what would happen if, for some reason, we don't get back to Ithaca?"
"You could bring the laptop back home with you, you know."
Danny pauses.
"Yeah, I considered that, but then I thought that Jack Rudolph probably trusts us little enough that he has a contingency plan if we suddenly both decide not to show up for work ever again."
He scoots forward. "You know what would be even worse? If that door opens, and we're in LA instead of Ithaca. All our stuff will be three thousand miles away, not to mention how're we going to explain how we suddenly appeared in Los Angeles without even bothering to return the rented car."
It's called carrying a story to its logical conclusion, it has nothing to do with paranoia.
Matt, you don't want the actual answer to that question. You just think you do. What's more, Danny's positive you don't want the actual answer to that question.
Danny's just going to watch him and wait for him to say something about Luke, Harriet, or both. This is the man who warned him about coming on too strong?

That is Danny-speak for "Calm the hell down, Matt."

Which makes perfect sense to Danny. Or maybe he's just trying to keep Matt from a full-scale freakout. That's possible too.

Nothing brings Matt back to earth like Danny not making sense.

Hey, one of them's got to be sane at a time. It's a rule of the universe.

"What do you think Harriet's doing right now?"
Luke probably doesn't rise to meet the standards of a who on his best days.

"Wasn't she going skiing?"

Sometimes it's like watching a small child reaching toward an electrical socket.
