It’s no grand entrance.

The door opens, and Ben steps through with a spring in his step and a hand wrapped in bandages. He’s in the process of unzipping his fly, and it takes a moment for the fact that this is not a restroom and Bar is not a urinal to register

"Yes," says the vampire seated at a nearby table and making small, rather badly-done sculptures our of paper.

"Interesting is probably a good definition."

“This is… usually the point where all my old college buddies jump out from behind the curtains and yell ‘SURPRISE’.”

He peers around.

And around a little more.

Mal considers this.

"Unless your old college buddies are here too, then that's probably not going to happen."

“Dave?” he calls out hopefully.

Dave, alas, does not reply.

She grins.

"Welcome to Milliways."

He stares down at her, a little blankly.

And then begins to grin.

Looking around (and eyeing the curtains suspiciously, “Perry, I know it’s you. C’mon, did you really think I’d fall for the old ‘bar in the restroom’ trick twice?”

Mal blinks a little, then flags down a waitrat and orders a coffee.

"Look over there." And she, with much flair, points to the Window.

Ben follows her finger, still grinning a little.

The silence is long.
Long, and thoughtful.

“Yeah, that. Might not be Perry.”

He takes a photo of it, all the same.

Yay for photos?

"No. I dunno who Perry is, but that's been there as long as I have."

“It’s, uh. Explodey.”

He waves a hand encouragingly.

“Goes well with the décor.”

"Yes, it's the universe ending."

He shakes the Polaroid with an air of desperation.

“Does it… end often?”

[not_one_drop]

"Well, it hasn't stopped yet. And I've been here for nearly a year."

Grin, "But don't worry. I think we're safe."

“That’s… kind of neat. And that,” he adds, waving the photograph at her, “is a good shot. Isn’t that a good shot?”

He grins at her.

As an after-thought, he takes a photo of her too.

"It's an excellent shot."

And then he takes a picture of her and she flinches automatically - no flash, so that's good, but...

"Um, I dunno how well that's going to come out."

“Everyone always says that.”

He gives this photo an enthusiastic shake too, then holds it up and…

Blink.

“Huh.”
