"Working?" says a quiet voice from a little way behind her.

Havelock's not actually lurking in the shadows. He was on his way outside to try another hour's training, but seeing Nita made him pause. It has been some time, after all.

She startles and looks up.

"--Oh. Yeah, pretty much." A quick, somewhat abstracted smile. "Hi."

"Hello, Nita," he returns, stepping a little closer, so she doesn't have to peer around to see him.

"Interesting?"

She certainly looks... engaged by whatever it is.

"Very."

She glances down at the notebook again.

"I'm trying to make some connections."

He nods.

"Anything I might assist with?"

"You know anything about dream interpretation?"

It's a serious question.

"There is nothing on the subject on my curriculum."

Note that isn't a no.

He sits down opposite her.

That earns him an amused look. "And that means what, exactly?"

She recieves a blank look for her trouble, before Havelock looks down again, at the notebook in front of her.

"Which, in particular?"

"Never mind."

She taps the notebook. "I think this most recent one is the most important."

A slender hand touches the page, slides it slightly to examine what she has written.

"It is always difficult," he remarks distantly, eyes still on the page. "The tiniest detail might be so much more significant than a major theme."

Rueful -- "Tell me about."

The page has a detailed synopsis of the dream. Notes have been added to the margin in different colored ink.

"Whose laughing?" Havelock asks, after a moment.

"I think . . ."

She looks grim. "I think the Lone Power's. It fits with other dreams I've had."

Not to mention that once you've heard Its laughter, you don't soon forget.

Havelock looks eloquently emotionless.

"Then presumably It is either involved in, or has interest of some kind in whatever meaning this dream has."

His finger strays to the word 'balance' as he thinks for a moment.

"Kinda what I was thinking."

She doesn't sound pleased about it.

"And I think that ties in with some information I got today from a colleague, and considering that that's about the Book . . ."

She trails off, frowning.
