A distance is a wise idea. Wells is just taking two dogs that're going to be the size of ponies when they grow up out for a walk. No sense getting them too near the weirdly moving shadows; they might get interested and jump, or something.
Garion notices him after a few minutes and sticks the sword in the ground with a grin, pulling up a towel to sop the sweat and then tossing his tunic and the cloak over his head quickly.
Chur doesn't want to disturb, especially not someone with a glowy Sword, but she did want to walk outside for a bit. She doesn't get to walk around on ground on her side of the door, after all.
So she stands a safe distance away and watches, ears pricked forwards in curiosity.
He puts the sword in the ground after a few minutes, wipes off with a rag and then tosses the tunic and cloak over himself to deal with the cold. The sword is pulled out of the ground, put in it's scabbard on his back, and sort of ...disappears.

It's a hell of a sight to watch, though.

"Hello... and who're these fine lads?"

One of the dogs steps forward half a pace, ducking his head. This one is Gheri, he offers, and that one is Gifr.
Gifr's tail thumps the ground a moment as he chuffs a greeting from where he sits. Wells smiles fondly at the two dogs from where he stands.
Did I say it right, Grandfather? Gheri asks quickly.

And raises an eyebrow to Wells before addressing the boys.
""This one is greets you, little brother. Little brother. This one is called Garion by man.""

"Not a problem."
He walks over and bows his head in greeting.
"Good day, mistress...?"
