Cassandra sits in a booth, surrounded by a variety of objects - lots of appliances in various stages of construction or deconstrucion, spare parts, tools familiar and unfamiliar, and several toasters.
She hums as she works.

"Is that something else to help us?"
Reply
"No, this is simply to pass time.
Over the years I've discovered building things can be rather soothing."
She gestures to the seat across from her.
"Sit?"
Reply
She takes a closer look at the items on the table.
"So..what exactly are you doing?"

Sam pauses and closes her eyes for a moment, recollecting herself.
"You knew I would get distracted by that, didn't you?"
Reply
"You asked a question and I answered it.
If you did not want to know you shouldn't have asked."

She watches the older woman across from her, familiar and yet so different.
"What have you been doing for the past..nine hundred years?"
Reply
"I never suggested this was going to be easy - for anyone.
I do not need to remind you that the less I tell you about the future, the better. I regret that I have to ask you and Mom to accept this blindly, but there is no other choice."
She turns her attention back to her machine, "All your questions will be answered in time."
Reply
"If you know me as well as you say then..you know that I have a lot of questions.
How can you know that all of them will be answered? I might have some you haven't thought of."
Reply
"Sam..I've known you longer than you've known yourself. And considering that I didn't know you until you were in your thirties, that's saying something.
I know you, and I've seen how your mind works.
I cannot give you the proof you want, or need, right now. But I can assure you that..unless something goes wrong, every single question you have will be answered.
And even if something goes wrong..most will be, to the best of my ability."
Reply
"And what happens to Cassie if something goes wrong?"
Cassie being her main concern in all of this.
Reply
"She will be fine, physically and mentally..
And we'll just have to hope that the changes I made were enough."
Reply
"That bad?"
Reply
"It was from my perspective."
Reply
"I hope it wasn't in vain then."
After a moment she points to the machine Cassandra's working on.
"Can I help you with this?"
Reply
"I would like that very much.
We start here, in the core generator. This part here conducts the energy through here.."
