Mal Reynolds
Atton Rand
Harry Dresden
Wes Jansen
Buffy Summers

Bartender in Training
Anakin Solo

Below this, he tacks a new scheduleSatisfied, he recommences puttering -- ( Read more... )

Santino's path (most strangely) crosses Bernard's, and the Vampire glanced from the new sign to the barman, and arched an eyebrow somewhat.

"I would assume you're a figure of authority here, but decidedly not the barman I first met." He flashed Bernard a smile. "Even if I'm not even half-way correct in my assumptions, it's a pleasure to meet you."

Bernard turns with a smile. "There are two Barmen. I'm the good-looking, old school one." He sticks out a hand. "Bernard Wrangle."

Santino took Bernard's hand in his strong, thick-knuckled own and shook.

"I could tell the former, but not so much the latter." Tone warm, friendly, almost conspirational.

"Salvatore."

"Good to meet you. Get you something while I'm back here?" He gestures to the amassed glasses on Bar. "Might as well."

He flashed Bernard a grin. "Why not? I was about to offer you a drink, though I don't quite have the authority to pour it."

"What's your weapon of choice, Bernard? I'm considering expanding my horizons, you see."

One red eyebrow arches up. "Tequila. You?"

"It would be far too Italian of me to say wine, wouldn't it?"

He smiled.

"Tequila it is."

"All right, then."

Bernard slaps down two shot glasses and fills them.

"Bottoms up."

Santino tipped back the shot as Bernard does, keeping the glass in his hand afterwards.

If one were almost supernatural in their watching, they might notice it's still quite full. As it is, the glass is held in Santino's hand, so it might be somewhat hard to spy. It certainly looked like he had swallowed. At his age, one learns how to fake things.

"How does one become the barman of a celestial trans-universal bar, Bernard?"

"By default," Bernard laughs, after he drinks. "The last barman left, and I was the next in line. Bar chose me, and, save a few weeks here and there taken off for illness and my honeymoon, I've been the barman ever since. Mike came later."

"I understand."

"Bar chose you? I assumed you were the power behind this establishment and it's oddities."

After all, there has to be someone at the top of the chain.

"She chose Mike, too, last summer," Bernard explains, then realizes what Salvatore is implying. "Wait. You think I'm the Landlord or something?"

"Thought. The Landlord is the man behind all this, then?"

Santino shrugged. "I was curious as to what power was behind all this. Places like this don't occur naturally, as far as I can tell."

"The Landlord is neither seen nor heard, but he is who you can blame for this." Bernard shifts, resting his elbows on Bar. "But Mike and I are the highest power you will ever have reason to appeal to."

Santino nodded.

"Have you come into contact with the Landlord, or does he remain hidden to you as well?"

"Some other patrons had a brief correspondence with him a couple of years ago. But I have no reason to contact him," Bernard replies with a shrug. "Why all the questions?"
