The Door opens.

Rather it's shoved open by a dappled, grey nose. Said nose is followed by an equine body...a filly not quite a year old.

"Cai! Come back here!"

The filly whickers playfully and trots quickly into Milliways. There is a mildly irritated man in robes who follows her.

Let's all welcome the Ranger and Cai back, everybody.

Draco had been somewhat scarce lately for good reason. Concealing charms weren't entirely effective since of what happened the last time he tried it. But he got a bit of a reprieve so he was actually looking like himself mostly. Sitting in a quiet booth off to the side though.

The Ranger catches up to the horse...and finally notices where he is.

"Well, I suppose you can have a short reprieve from your exam," he says, in quiet amusement. "Go outside if you wish, but stay close to the stables."

Cai tosses her head and trots off for the Back Door.

The Ranger looks around. It's been a while since the Door opened for him...and he's been looking forward to coming back. And he does manage to spot a familiar face.

He wanders over to Draco's booth, taking in the boy's mental state.

"Kenaz?" he says quietly.

Draco glanced over. It's been a mixed time for him, some good, some bad. Actually, some very, very good, but also some very, very bad.

He gave a nod, and seemingly casual in his tone as he replied, "Back again I see? Been a while, hasn't it?"

"A while indeed," he responds as he sits down. "I've been anxious to return, but I fear the Door has not cooperated."

A waitrat scurries up. "Oh, Dragon Lily tea, please," the Ranger orders. The rat squeeks and runs off again. "But, even barred from this place, there has been no shortage of tasks for me back home."

He chuckles. "Though equine husbandry is not exactly something I expected to be doing when I joined the Anla'shok. How have you been doing, my friend?"

Draco just shrugged, "Fair enough I suppose." Yeah, being difficult with divulging.

An elegant eyebrow quirk.

"Shall I take it to mean that your meeting with an interesting young woman's family went well?"

He knows something's going on - something worrysome, but he'll see what Draco will divulge when given freedom.

Draco blinked, "Oh that. Well, yes, and no. Mostly yes. Strange family, but they seemed to like me."

"That is very good," he responds. "Things are always easier when you don't have to worry about conflicts with the loved ones of...people of interest."

"Yes, her grandmother seems to have a thing about poisoning people though, but that seemed...normal to them."

Draco fidgeted, and there was a bit of a blush, "Not sure what we are, Wednesday and I. Can't even really call her a girlfriend yet." Awww, he was sulking a little.

"Ahhh, yes," he says sympatheticly. "It can be difficult to find that out. Even in my time, we humans find it difficult to speak of things plainly."

"Haven't even kissed yet, and she says she likes me. But she doesn't have to be so cold." Yes, the ice prince wizard was complaining about somebody else being too cold. Funny, isn't it?

Oh, just hiliarous!

The Ranger stares out the Window for a moment.

"It may be a problem with relativity," he says. "A temperature of a mere 26 degrees Celsius would be unbearably hot to someone raised in the polar regions but a mild day to someone raised in the tropics."

"Neither of us was raised around ice or in the tropics. What are you going on about?" Yeah, Draco's not getting the technical stuff... >.>

"That perhaps the two of you are operating with different, emotional thermometers," he says, reasonably. "What may be 'cold' to you might be something quite different to her."

He shrugs. "But, then, I've never met the young lady."

Draco started to retort, but then thought about it. "Well, her family was odd, but her parents seemed rather friendly actually."

"Well, I suppose the only advice I can give is to be patient. Not the easiest things to do, I know."

Particularly where adolescent hormones are involved.
