Cooper?

Is pleased as punch, happy as a clam, as merry as a pirate and as giddy as a schoolboy. Why?

Well, that's something you'll have to ask him, but the pint of Guinness (and the two or three siblings that had already been emptied) will probably make him talkative enough to actually explain. There's a smile on his face, though.

suzi darley, cooper, sergeant wells

Cooper raises a hand, the one not holding his pint glass, and cheers.

"Oi! Sarge!"

Comeovercomeover!

Wells grins, and sets off for Cooper's table. "You look a decent mood, for once," he says. "What happened?"

He smiles and takes another sip from his pint before answering.

"Shipping out two days from now to Wales. No more bloody paperwork."

"That so?" says Wells, eyebrows up. "Congratulations, mate! That makes two of us- more or less, anyways. I got a proper job offer, none of this farming shite..."

He nods to Wells, indicating he should go on."

"You know any of the Slayers around here, by any chance?"

He shakes his head.

"Heard of em. Mostly from you."

"The girl on security with the blue hair and the great fucking red axe thing, Mel? Think I told you about her- anyways. They're supposed to be one in a generation, strong enough to lift cars, fast enough to be a real pain in the arse in a fist-fight, all that sort of shit. They're supposed to kill vampires 'n other things that go bump in the night, wherever it is each one lives. Guess there wasn't one in Scotland." He picks up his drink glass. "Only thing is, for whatever reason there's a good couple hundred of 'em now, and the blokes who were their support system're only equipped to teach 'em one at a time every couple of years. It just so happens that Andrew Wells of the Council of Watchers has a cousin who did three years as a drill instructor, happens to be free of current employment, and can probably keep up with these girls better than just about anyone else he knows..."

And he grins, patting Sarge on the shoulder.

"Sounds like they need you, Sarge."

"It does, doesn't it?" Wells grins. "Told Annie about it. She offered to kill me if I didn't take the job."

"Too fucking right she is," Wells says. "So what've they got you doing in Wales?"

He waves it off.

"Get my briefing tomorrow, but from what I read already it's some covert operation involving, of all bloody things, a puma. Loose in Wales."

He shakes his head and takes another sip.

"Don't care. I'll squat in the bushes for a week looking for the thing if it means I don't have to fill out forms."

"A puma." Wells considers this. "Oh, I can't fuckin' wait to hear how this one turns out. All right. A mission's a mission. I can see that, yeah."

He chuckles darkly and looks over to Wells.

"Could be worse."
