Valerie hasn't really been down since she entered. Getting used to being healthy and in a new place took precedence -- and besides, she feels a little like the new kid at school.

Still, you can't stay in your room all the time. And it looks like there's something going on outside. So Valerie's come downstairs and is ordering tea from the Bar

Shadow has relocated from a barstool to a couch near the wall. He's drinking a cup of coffee and just watching.

The girl who comes down the stairs looks nervous, and new, and he feels sympathetic to her because he's new as well. He smiles at her, and gives her a small wave.

She blinks, and gives him a smile and a small wave back.

Once she has her tea, she wanders over towards him -- a little uncertainly, though he seems friendly.

Shadow nods at an empty armchair in front of the couch, indicating she should sit down.

'Hey.' He says.

"Is everyone here this friendly to new arrivals?" she asks as she sits. "Or am I just lucky?"

'Well, I'm new myself, and you looked kind of...' He waves a hand vaguely, to indicate nervousness. 'Thought you might appreciate a friendly face. I'm Shadow.'

"Is it that obvious? And me an actress." She shakes her head and extends a hand. "I'm Valerie."

'I read between the lines.' Shadow says, shaking her hand. 'How long have you been here?'

"Not long. A few days. I'm still getting used to everything."

'Mm, me too.' He nods, smiling. 'It's very strange, just walking into this place.'

"You've no idea," she agrees. "Talk about a surprise."

He laughs, knowing exactly what she means. 'I thought I was heading into my apartment, but I ended up here, with a door that won't let me back.'

She gives him a sympathetic look. "You're -- Bound, too?"

'Yep, apparently so.' His face softens. 'What's your when and where? Do you have people waiting for you?'

Something in her own face closes off, a little. "No. I'm from 2018. London. Or I guess I was."

[coin_tricks]

'I- Sorry.' He says, sincerely. 'I didn't mean- I'm from America, 2006.'

Right, subject change. 'So, do you have a job here?'

Subject change is good. "Not at the moment. I don't know, I might look into it." She quirks a smile. "It feels a little early to me to start thinking about employment."
