Merriman had requested a glass of water from the bar, and along with the water the bar had also delivered a note, written in green ink on pink paper. Fortunately, it's clearly addressed to Henry Wellard, so he did not have to actually open it -- which allowed him to put it away before the colour combination actually made his headache worse. (For precisely that reason, Wellard won't be getting the note until the effects of the concussion have passed.)

That said, the water will be put to good use, if the headache powder currently being stirred into it is anything to go by.
