It has been a rather long day at Redmond. The social life is always abuzz and aflutter, and Phil is always right in the thick of it, but that's hardly unusual now.
On the other hand, mathematics lecture this afternoon, thinks Phil as she walks up the stairs of her boarding house, that was quite something, wasn't it.
Luckily for Phil, she is saved from having to ponder too deeply her feeling for mathematics. After all, she's never been one for especially deep contemplations about serious subjects. Not that she'd admit, anyway. And not when she knows that at least three young gentlemen are planning on calling upon her this eveing. Anyway, she is saved from such pondering because instead of opening into her small bedroom, the door at the top of the stairs opens into a familiar looking bar.
Phil breaks into a huge smile the minute she sees it. "Now you are precisely the distraction I need," she says, patting the doorframe lightly and stepping through.
