Knox notices the silly hat and stuffed bird. Being the curious sort, he heads closer. He also notices that this man looks sorta like that guy from the World Eaten By Dragons, albeit healthier and better groomed.

"Er, Ahoy there?"

John Preston affixes the man with a stare.

"....What?"

He hasn't noticed the bird. Please excuse him for being rude.

[gotham_knocking]

"Um, sorry. But don't you know you're wearing a pirate hat. And a stuffed parrot?" How can someone not notice that?

[fathers_cleric]

John Preston blinks-clearly the man's an idiot-

Until he sees the parrot and the hat.

Preston's face breaks into a half smile and he removes them, muttering about the bar.

He smiles, "...Thanks."

[gotham_knocking]

"I think the place must have a pirate thing going. I ordered a beer yesterday, and got rum. Who can tell with this place?" He smirks a bit, and having left before the day really got going he has no idea how piratey it got.

"Alexander Knox, Gotham City, 1989." He extends a hand.

[fathers_cleric]

"John Preston. Libria. 2515."

He nods, "Gotham City?"

"Most worlds don't have one. But then I don't know Libria, so I guess we're even.

"Assuming Libria's even on Earth," he adds.

[fathers_cleric]

A headtilt, as Preston smiles, "-The United States Sir. At least, it used to be. I'm told my world isn't the nicest."

[gotham_knocking]

"Well, everyone's from somewher that has its Drawbacks. But anyway, we don't have a Libria." He wonders if he should ask more. He's encountered so many possible futures, what's one more?

[fathers_cleric]

"...you misunderstand. Libria's what the United States is called-was called in my world."

He smiled, "...It's not a happy subject. would you like to sit?"

[gotham_knocking]

"Uh, yeah." Well, so much for not finding out. "Should I ask what happened?"
