[Pre-Milliways: So many worlds.]The door does not open, precisely. It is closer to say that where the door was becomes a shimmering wall of light. From the light steps a figure, shadowed against the glare for a moment until the door becomes just a door once again ( Read more... )

Well, fear's a bit out of the question given some of the company the Bar tends to keep, but... blimey.

If there's one thing Jimmy hasn't been short on since having discovered the path to Milliways, it's dramatic entrances.

What's more the bloke feels huge. Like -- massive. Sort of. Mean, he's all human-sized (although Jimmy knows that humanity's questionable given the circumstances), but he seems bigger. It's that extra One-Quarter's Sense thing Paddy taught him. It's a boxing thing. So, yeah -- big. And tired. And perhaps cranky?

But he's heading over to the Bar herself, so Jimmy steels himself up for a small, "Hullo." After all, his Dad always said: 'Even an old bulldog appreciates a snack.' And, well, Jimmy's not about to become a snack, you understand, but the statement could still apply.

This is a reaction he's more used to. Urza nods to the young man.

"Greetings," he says simply.

Oh, yeah, definitely one of those Bigger blokes. Jimmy decides he doesn't ever want to be in a ring with this man. Ever. That's reasonable, innit?

"Bit new?" The question comes off an octave higher than it needed. Jimmy clears his throat a bit and sips from his water.

"Rather, yes," he answers with a trace of amusement in his voice. "What is this place, if I may ask?"

"Milliways Bar," Jimmy says. "'S a bit outside of time and space and all that, 'cept that it occupies space and has time... it's all a bit flummoxed, really." Jimy pauses. "I don't think it's on a map."

"Intriguing. And upon what world does this place sit? What is it's name?"

"Erm. I dunno." It's almost a question. "I, well. I sometimes arrive here by way of the back door from Barry's, but I suppose there're loads of other ways, seeing as how not everyone here knows where Barry's is, and I've not seen anyone else there that knows of here, there."

Urza nods.

"I see. And is this Barrys a planeswalker, or another such gifted magic user, to be able to open the portal for you?"

"Well, I... I dunno. Mostly he just owns the pub, yeah?"

"Intriguing. He is the owner of this place? I should like to meet this Barrys, I think."

Jimmy catches the bloke's mistake with Barry's name (it being 'Barry' and all), but doesn't correct him just yet. "Well, I -- I could try and see about it. You haven't heard of Lambeth, have you?"

He shakes his head.

"No, I have not. What can you tell me of them?"

"Oh, it's a... place."

Jimmy has the sudden feeling that perhaps telling details about his home, and where it is, isn't the smartest thing he could do in this situation.

"Pardon, but, what was your name, again?"

"I am called Urza," he answers easily, but is not dissuaded from his original thought. "This Lambeth, then, domain of Barrys. It is near to this plane? Or is your journey here a longer one?"

Well. A bit late now.

"Feels sort of simultaneous."

"An adjacent plane, perhaps. Or a particularly powerful portal spell. In either case, I would be most obliged if I could speak with this powerful sorceror Barrys."
