[OOM: Sometimes the best way to find something is to not look for it at all.]The front door swings open abruptly, and a slight female figure passes through. Her attire is perhaps unusual to some, being a high-waisted formal gown detailed with elaborate embroidery, but Georgiana Darcy is certainly not the first to enter Milliways dressed in this way ( Read more... )

Eustace isn't paying the most attention to his surroundings, either.

Which might explain why he nearly runs into her. Um. Oops?

"Oh, excuse me -- sorry--"

Her reputation says that Georgiana is a girl of many accomplishments.

Blushing is clearly one of them, as she now proves.

"Oh, no!" she protests, her face a flaming red. "The fault is mine. Are you well? You have not been injured, I hope?"

Despite her concern, she noticeably does look into his face.

His eyebrows go up, and he gives her a reassuring smile. "I'm fine, I'm fine. Are you?"

[OOC: ARGH. Typo in previous comment. She noticeably doesn't look into his face. She's super-shy with unfamiliar people. Complete change in tone, that. Oy. *swats self*]

"I-I... no," she replies, struggling with the simple words a bit. "I mean to say, I am fine. I believe. ...I hope."

The last sounds more than a little lost.

*- well. Meg's been in Milliways long enough to recognize that look, at least.*

- pardonnez-moi, but - I'm guessing you haven't been here before?

If Georgiana looked surprised before, she now appears completely befuddled. So befuddled, she actually looks directly into Meg's face.

"I... I am in France?" she stammers, before collecting herself somewhat. 'Collecting herself' translates into 'inspecting something else that is clearly not Meg.' "That is to say, no, I-I have not been here before. I do not believe so, anyway."

Oh - non, *Meg assures her hastily, and meanwhile does her best to look harmless and unthreatening.

It's not hard, when she only just brushes five feet.*

You're not in France, just talking to a French girl - and as for the rest - er, would you like to sit down?

That news is a profound relief to poor Georgiana. She might only be a little insane, if this is the case.

As it happens, Georgiana would like to sit down, but she has always been horrible with social situations, and oh, why is she here, but then Meg does not appear so very terrifying (although still a little bit so, perhaps), so it might be well for her to sit.

"I think I would, yes," she answers quietly, looking somewhere in the vicinity of Meg's collar. "Al-although I have been quite rude, and have not even introduced myself. Pray forgive me. My name is Georgiana Darcy."

Yes, she curtseys. Even when possibly losing her mind, she does not entirely lose her manners.

Larwence watches this with some curiosity, as it's been quite a long time since he's seen such attire and at that point it was for some fancy costume ball that his mother had forced him to as a child in cotton-waisted pants an a tie that itched around his throat.

He'd had a rash for days. He smiles just a tad, striding levelly forward in his rather clean robes with a flourishing wave of his hand.

"Miss?"

Georgiana pivots about, startled by the unfamiliar voice.

"...Yes?" she asks, looking very like a frightened rabbit. "That is, you were speaking to me, were you not?"

He gives her a light, charming smile.

"But of course." He thickens his accent minutely - perhaps she will feel more at home with such a thing, although he's from some time later than her.

"You look quite distressed. This is perhaps your first visit?"

As it happens, the accent does help somewhat. It is at least something familiar in this otherwise very unfamiliar place.

Georgiana engages in her usual routine of inspecting her conversation partner's collar, but does offer a smile tinged with relief. "I -- yes. It is. Although I could not begin to tell you how I happened to arrive here. Well, b-beyond walking through the door, I mean."
