The door opens, showing a rather rough wooden portal that might better belong to a ship than a castle on the other side as the Rivan King pulls his hand away. He shifts the bag over his shoulder and turns around half way in the doorway

And the wolf has him curious - he smiles, lighting a cigarette and turning on his stool.

...and the mackeral, covered, far from the rest of it.
While he's at the bar, he gives Lawrence a look.
"Yes?"
Reply
"That is a very large bag."
Yes, Lawrence. State the obvious.
Reply
"Yes. And?"
Polite.

He shifts. "And I meant also to ask if the wolf was yours."

He nods to Wolf.
"As for the cub, he's his own, really. Wolves aren't pets."
And there's a certain finality to that last statement.

He smiles politely. "And what is it that you have killed dead? If you don't mind me asking, of course."

He holds out a hand.
"Belgarion of Riva."

He doesn't answer to Thomas or Edward often, anyway. He smiles to the little boy and then to Ce'Nedra out of habit.
"I can imagine."
Reply
"Pleased to meet you, Lawrence. I'm Queen Ce'Nedra, and these are our children, Geran and Wolf."
She doesn't seem to be willing to put Geran down any time soon.

"And one on the way, yes?" He says with a smile, his expression soft and pleased.
