The door opens, showing a rather rough wooden portal that might better belong to a ship than a castle on the other side as the Rivan King pulls his hand away. He shifts the bag over his shoulder and turns around half way in the doorway ( Read more... )

Larwence is rather concerned about the large bag of ... well, he doesn't know what it is, but it's big.

And the wolf has him curious - he smiles, lighting a cigarette and turning on his stool.

Upon noticing the stranger's interest in the bag, Garion nearly facepalms and retrieves it from the door. He pulls it over to the booth before heading back to the bar to pick up the shakes, the little bowl of meat, and the juice for Geran.

...and the mackeral, covered, far from the rest of it.

While he's at the bar, he gives Lawrence a look.

"Yes?"

He gives a slightly amused chuckle.

"That is a very large bag."

Yes, Lawrence. State the obvious.

The look he gives Lawrence is flat, but not angry by any measure.

"Yes. And?"

Polite.

"And I'm rather hoping that it isn't something terribly unpleasant. You never know what may come in that door. I do hope it's .. rather dead?"

He shifts. "And I meant also to ask if the wolf was yours."

"It's extremely dead," he answers with something close to a snort, "And I would know as I killed it."

He nods to Wolf.

"As for the cub, he's his own, really. Wolves aren't pets."

And there's a certain finality to that last statement.

"I would not doubt such a thing. He is handsome."

He smiles politely. "And what is it that you have killed dead? If you don't mind me asking, of course."

"A dragon," he answers, matter-of-fact. It wasn't that such things were common in his world; actually, this had been the last one of three that had ever been made. But he'd had some weeks getting used to the fact that he could now add 'dragonslayery' to 'Godslayer', so really it wasn't anything to get upset or excited over.

Wolf, for his part, pads over to Lawrence to explore.

Lawrence arches a brow at Wolf, but allows him to sniff and explore as he might like to with a fairly amiable smile. Until the wolf shows himself as a threat...he'll be fine with it.

"That is quite impressive." He looks a bit surprised - but he has no dragons in his world.

"I had help," he admits, "and a rather large sword. And it was sort of a special circumstance."

Not that he hadn't fought the dragon before. He had. He'd fought this dragon and someone who could turn into a dragon, which he really could have done had he wanted to, but he'd never found the creatures all that appealing.

Wolf, for his part, just sniffs a bit around Lawrence's legs.

"Well, still a feat in itself. Congradulations, at any rate."

He takes a slow drag of his cigarette, keeping it away from the little blonde boy and the wolf for the moment.

He watches Wolf curiously for a moment and then glances back to Garion.

"I don't believe we have met."

He nods to the woman and the little blonde boy and the wolf with a soft, almost sappy smile on his face.

"I'm much prouder of them then I am of a sack of leather," he says quietly, "but thank you."

He watches them for a moment, Geran watching the bar at large with big blue, curious eyes before every so often clutching to Ce'Nedra. The Rivan Queen seems quite pleased with this.

Then he shakes his head.

"Aha, yes, um, well, no. I don't think we've met, but I've been gone quite a time."

He holds out a hand.

"Belgarion of Riva."

"That tends to be common-place here, from my experiences...however limited they may be. It is a pleasure to meet you, Beglarion of Riva. I suppose if I had an appropriate title I could use it ... but most accurately, I am Thomas Edward Lawrence. Please, call me Lawrence."

He doesn't answer to Thomas or Edward often, anyway. He smiles to the little boy and then to Ce'Nedra out of habit.

"I can imagine."

She smiles winningly back to him.

"Pleased to meet you, Lawrence. I'm Queen Ce'Nedra, and these are our children, Geran and Wolf."

She doesn't seem to be willing to put Geran down any time soon.

He chuckles and walks to wrap an arm around her shoulders.

"And one on the way, yes?" He says with a smile, his expression soft and pleased.

"It is wonderful to meet you as well, Queen Ce'Nedra. Your children are quite lovely."

He watches them. Happy little family.
