River's sitting on the back of a booth -- on the back, literally, with her forearms resting on her knees and her back against the wall. There's a rafter near her head, a few feet up. She's wearing black boots, a yellow sundress, and the long brown coat Roland gave her. Several of its pockets, as usual, bulge slightly with odds and ends

Gavroche wanders over, as usual wearing Enjolras' waistcoat and Alain's leather bracelet, and eyes the booth consideringly.

Then he climbs up to join her.

River watches the process.

When he's standing on the table, she moves her feet just enough to make room.

He smiles, taking that as the invitation it appears to be, and hauls himself up to sit next to her.

"Hi."

[river_meimei]

River, who was distracted by something on the empty table on the other side of the booth, glances at him.

[street_sparrow]

He is not fazed by River's conversational skills. He grins at her.

"Haven't seen you for a while."

[river_meimei]

"I have."

[street_sparrow]

"...seen me? Or seen you?"

It makes sense, sort of.

[river_meimei]

River gives him a blank look.

Then, patiently, "I'm right here."

[street_sparrow]

"You are tonight", he says reasonably. "But it's a long time since I last saw you."

[river_meimei]

"Okay."

River doesn't seem to think this subject warrants this much discussion, but she goes along with it amiably.

"So how've you been?"

[river_meimei]

...

"Here," River says patiently.

[street_sparrow]

"And that's... good?" he hazards. "Being here's usually good."
