A man enters, slow and heavy. His robes drag the floor as he makes his way to the Bar and orders a wine.
Please don't tear this world asunder
In his world, it's only been a day since he was last here, and Salazar has yet to recover.
Please take back this fear we're under
A red sky and thick clouds met Salazar when he returned home to rest.

He doesn't know why, but in his mind Slytherin looks as though he's definitely seen better days.

And yet, the man has a kind of grace that can only be seen when one is under pressure.

"Salazar?"

Salazar raises dull eyes to Rabastan.

"Master Rabastan." A weak spidery hand waves Rabastan acknowledgement. "Hail thee."

Yes.

Definitely has seen better days.

"What happened?"

He says it before he's aware he's speaking.

"I mean, forgive my intrusiveness, but...

Are you well?"

"The Beast Blodwen. I was tricked into service of that demon and her consorts, her mate used my happiness against me to pull me into the depths of Hades with him and that creature. That- that-" He sighs heavily and coddles his wine.

"Master Draco had to Stupefy me."

Rabastan is Patentedly Clueless about Blodwen.

Never heard of her, does not know who she is, couldn't pick her out even if she was the only person in sight.

"She sounds like a Dementor," he says, mind grabbing at the first analogy that fits.

"Not quite, but close. She's a defeatable being, if that's any comfort." Clearly, It Is Not.

"Have you fared well, Master Rabastan?"

His mouth's open to inquire further, but then he closes it.

What sort of question does one ask anyways?

"I've faired good and bad, to tell you the truth."

"You have fared badly? May I inquire as to why?" He leans in closer, fishing a golden insignia out of a deep inner pocket.

"And may I remind you, you are a welcome guest in the House of Slytherin." The insignia he hands to Rabastan. It's embossed with the words genius loci, 'spirit of the place' which are flanked by a king cobra, leaning over the words.

"I am certain we could use your services, perhaps as attendant to the Lady Madaeze."

Salazar had been kind enough to tell Rabastan why he was in the state he was in; Rabastan should at least be able to return the gesture without hesitation.

"It concerns the Dark Lord," he says, curious as to what Slytherin was up to, and, to a lesser degree, why. "I fear that I have lost favour with him, that he has somehow found out about my desire to leave his service, and that even now there are Death Eaters back home seeking me out to have me executed."

And even though such a move can be justly called reckless as well as something worthy of a Gryffindor, he intends to head back home to determine his status amongst his "allies".

"I have to go back- What?" He stares at the item. Trust Slytherin and his affinity with snakes... "What is this for?" he asks, accepting the item and giving it another look. "And who is the Lady Madaeze?"
