Yesterday, Lyra Belacqua Silvertongue finished the sixth form at St Sophia's School, Oxford. Her overall marks were good but not stellar, although she earned a first in Rhetoric and another in her independent study of Alethiometry. In the fall she'll be going on to St Sophia's College.
At noon today she and Pantalaimon have an appointment. Instead of going straight to the bench in the Botanical Gardens, though, they come to Milliways around the middle of the morning. "They'll be there," Lyra says to Pantalaimon. "I hope."
