Elspeth's body is a cold white statue as she walks down the dark passages of the palace. Kerowyn had called him one of the Cold One's, the people who killed for pay, and to serve their god. But why had he come? More importantly, how had he come?
The corridor whistled as a breeze blew down it. Somewhere behind her were the guards forced upon her by her mother. It was a relief to finaly reach her doorway. Elspeth pauses for a moment, not wanting to enter just yet, releif would not come in the cold of the night. Finally she opens the door with a sigh and steps though.
Her senses alight and she whirls around, the door closing with another breeze, but instead of another assassin she sees only... a tavern? Where was her bedroom?
