Another day, another run.

Alright, so perhaps Ace isn't so continuously fitness-savvy as that, but she hasn't felt terribly fit to fly of late, so running has been resorted to as a means to keep the wilder half satisfied. Not quite as good as her usual mode of operations, but it will do, for now ( Read more... )

Another purple haired Slayer with a rather fixed expression on her face?

"Hey, Sparky," she says, intercepting her and making no moves to relax. "You got a minute?"

"Rather." She tenses in response to Mel's attitude. She's already had the week from hell, can't it end at that?
"What's goin' on?"

"Indy," she says bluntly. "He's out past his curfew and Mike n' I are going to fetch him. Wondered if you had any toys that are effective against Nazis?"

"Sounds like a plan. C'mon, lemme show you what I've got on-hand, an' if that doesn't work, I can fix sommat up." Her hunt for waffles is abandoned as she turns on heel and heads back towards the front door. She notably isn't asking to come along, but that's her own problem.

She'll have to excuse Mel. She's got this whole 'Chosen One' thing going on. She wouldn't invite Mike if she thought she had a choice. This is family.

"We're goin' undercover at first," Mel tells her. "So something I can hide under whatever it is they wore in the forties would be nessa. Guessing you're used to that kinda thing?"

"Yeah. Never does to alarm the natives, if only 'cause I'd get a lecture about the First Law of Time an' the many various ways I was breakin' it." She jams her oddly-shaped key into the front door's keyhole, and the door opens to the TARDIS, which still looks slightly worse for wear. She hasn't quite rallied enough to give the necessary effort to put everything to rights.
"Right, just through here..." She avoids the console with it's charred patches of circuitry in favor of the door at the back which opens under her hand. That door, of course, leads to a hall, and three doors down is Ace's makeshift armory.

Or, at least, that's where it should be. Today, it is the pool. The armory is four doors down. Thus, Ace is grumbling as she shoulders the door open.

"No alarmin', got it," Mel says, glancing around as she follows Ace. She's always impressed by this place, but it's definitely more run down than she remembers.

They have a lot to catch up on. Mel just wi9shes they had the time.

"Uh, that doesn't apply to trips to Disneyland in the twentieth century, right?"

nitro_is_ace April 23 2006, 17:58:35 UTC
"Twentieth century? Nah. They alarm themselves all on their lonesomes. They'd hardly notice encouragement." Ace replies distractedly as she flicks on the lights.

A good number of the racks she usually stores her own special brand of explosive on are empty, but she's been busy over the last few days, replenishing her stock. There's also a couple pilfered futuristic guns that Ace hasn't quite gotten around to handing over to Jack yet.

It isn't as if their owners had any future use for them, sadly.

"I've got some nitro-9, if you'll be carrying a bag. I'm sure I've got some C4 around here as well, as well as detonators, if you'd rather go that way. Now, those are sonic blasters, but if you really want one of those, you've got t'promise me they won't get left behind. I have no desire to go back to Cairo during any World War to fetch a piece of equipment that isn't supposed t'be there.

"Don't think there's room for a bag," Mel says, still glancing around. "I'd leve it behind. Just give me something I can keep next to me. I don't plan to blow anything up, but you can't be too sure..."

"And it's good t'have a little insurance. Alright. Mmmmm..." Ace sifts through the racks, weighing possibilities. Finally she picks up two cannisters that can both fit in the palm of her hand.
"Been tweakin' the recipe some, gettin' tired of haulin' bulky explosives about. For your bomber on the go, these tiny little babies'll pack the punch y'need without disruptin' the dress line." She hands them over with a quicksilver grin. "Don't spend them all in one place now."

Mel grins in gratitude, pocketing them both. "Never would," she assures her friend. "Thanks, Ace. Sorry I couldn't sit down for a longer chat. Looks like we'll have a lot of stories to share when we get back with him."

She really had been looking forward to a boring time as well.

"Just be safe, a'right? Bring him home." She hasn't the heart for the usual 'give the gits a beating for me' cheer. Instead she locks everything down again and leads the way back out of the TARDIS.

"Never drop a grab," Mel intones confidently, following, but watching Ace's general demeanour with no small concern. She reaches a hand out as places it on the timelord's shoulder. "It'll be a walk."

If by 'striking' one means 'anyone who knows what that is wants to strike him', then yes, it is quite striking. Ace eyes it, and him.
"I always hated the dressin' up bits." But she won't comment further than that. She knows walking in there with modern clothing is the quick way to a jail cell, or worse.
"I'm goin' t'hold y'to that, I hope you know." She points out to Mel as she eyes the assorted clothing instead of the cap.

Mel thinks its striking, but she's not from the right century to be really offended, any more than she'd be offended by a Roman centurion's helmet.

"I know," she tells Ace even as she grabs the clothing from Mike, passing him one of the explosive canisters in return. "But you won't need to. We won't be long.

"Thanks, hon. I'm gonna go change in the office."
