[ Pre-Milliway's post. Hooray. In a dark corner of the bar, seven strange, green runes begin to inscribe themselves onto the ground, accompanied by a strange female voice speaking in a long-forgotten language. The summoning circle completes itself with a flash of green light, and Pious Augustus appears in all his skeletal glory. He leans against ( Read more... )

A floating skull comes down from the rafters at around the same time the lich enters. He was attracted by the female voice part of the summon, and was already readying his pick-up lines.

He wasn't expecting the lich. Morte stops a few feet away from Pious Agustus. He clicks his teeth together once.

Pious glanced at the skull. Well, at least this place was used to the undead. Now, what should he do... ignore the skull, tell it to get lost, or strike up conversation? Pious didn't like ignoring things, and he did entertain a vague curiosity as to what sort of a being this skull was...

"And what manner of apparition might you be?" he muttered.

"I'm a mimir, a floating encyclopedia and do you come from the Mortuary in the Hive?"

Pious nods slightly. A mimir. Interesting. Perhaps useful, even. "Mortuary in the Hive? I'm afraid not. I come from Earth, though I am not confined to merely that plane of existence. But what is this mortuary you speak of, mimir?"

Morte tilts himself. "You a Planeswalker, too? Take it you never been to Sigil, then. Mortuary's where the Dustmen keep their deaders. Make zombies, walking skeletons..." he nods to Pious. "And mimirs." Morte would gesture to himself, but...well. Head.

"Ulyaoth is the master of planes, but I can travel between them with a spell."

Hmm... So a place where zombies and skeletons are made. Sounds like his kind of joint. Perhaps that would be a place to check out in the future for potential allies... "And how could I reach this Mortuary?"

"Master of the Planes?" This, Morte rolls his eyes at. "Um, sure. You keep thinking that.

"And if you're chums with someone who's master of the planes, won't be hard to find yourself in Sigil. It's the centre of the Planes. The City of Doors."

And he will, too. Because Pious is just that hard-headed.

"'Chums' we are not. Regardless, perhaps I can locate this center of the Planes with intense meditation."

"Funny. I can locate it through that Door." He bobs his head to it, rolling his eyes a bit.

This berk is one of the all-powerful types. That's always gobs of fun.

"Eh, at least yer not that stupid skeleton with the riddles. So, just what are you, cutter?"

Yes, fear Pious' power! Face him and you shall perish! Just don't shoot him in the face repeatedly with a shotgun or get an enchanted gladius anywhere near him. Both things make him testy.

He grumbles a bit. A door? That's too easy and not flashy enough. By God, he wants to strike fear into people just by meditating!

He ignores the comment about the mysterious riddle skeleton. "I am Pious Augustus, emissary of Xel'lotath." And if this skeleton even thinks about making fun of his name...

Morte's...a floating skull. Um. But he does have magical teeth!

"Didn't know I was dealing with the religious type," Morte notes.

"Considering what you are, you of all beings should know that there is something that lies beyond reality. It was that discovery that changed me forever." He nods, as if that mere statement should also change Morte's life.

And hooray for magic teeth! Pious has a magic creepy staff thingie! It's not as cool as magic teeth. Good for knocking some sense into thos magical types, though.

Undead people can be atheists too. Morte doesn't fall down and weep in newfound love of Xel'lotath.

"Well, we don't hold with Powers in Sigil. You go there, your Being of Immense Power ain't travelling with you."

Morte won't hear the Trappers come for him at night. They'll be painted black and running in stealth mode.

Well, it's not like she's holding his hand anyway... He just channels her power through an artifact. But still, he doesn't like the sound of that. A lack of higher powers keeping order is a foreign concept to Pious. "So no greater powers rule that place? How is order maintained?"

floating_skull April 14 2006, 22:46:28 UTC
Meh, Morte'll bore them away. It's a gift.

"The Lady keeps order. In Sigil, she's powerful enough to keep everyone else away. Huge chit with blades sprouting from her face. You do something that twists her blades the wrong way and she'll 'maze you. Stick you in your own personal hell - well, your own personal maze. But the effect is the same."

"I see... So she is a being not to be trifled with, then, like the Ancients." He has no doubt that his patron Ancient is far more powerful than this Lady he speaks of, though.
