There's nothing like a good salad for dinner. Which would explain the one in front of Kate as she flips through a newspaper, occassionaly sipping at a glass at lemonade.

Short and sweet entrance post tonight.

jack shepherd, samurai jack, ash williams, kate austen

Because a bored samurai is a dangerous samurai...

"Greetings."

One samurai, standing before her, having moved her way quite silently despite the sandals he wears. His sword at his hip, he seems to radiate an aura of calm all around him.

...or he would, were he not clutching a chocolate milkshake in his hands and grinning like an idiot.

Kate blinks, looking momentarily disoriented when she sees the man with a sword standing near her.

It's Milliways; she really should know better. But apparently she doesn't.

"Um, hello."

Jack (perhaps on a sugar high) bows rather quickly to her, speaking a bit fast. "It is pleasant to meet you, Madame. What might your name be?"

He takes a sip from the milkshake, and the expression on his face can only be described as pure bliss.

"Kate," she replies after a second or two, taken aback by the bow. It's not every day she meets someone that reply. "It's Kate Austin. And you?"

The bow, normally, would be slow and polite. Now, well, Jack's been introduced by bar to some evil concoction known as a milkshake.

"You may call me Jack."

He's always careful not to lie about his name.

"Have you tried these before, Kate? They are very good." He taps the drink but keeps it close, as if worried someone may wish to steal it from him.

"It's nice to meet you, Jack," Kate replies, smiling warmly.

She nods at the milkshake question, looking slightly puzzled for a moment. "A milkshake? Of course. Haven't you?"

"No. They don't have these in my home, or in the future. They are very good."

Yes, he is repeating himself, and no, he doesn't seem to notice. He's sipping the sweet stuff up once more, apparently lost in his own little world for a moment.

"I never knew something could taste this good!"

"Chocolate usually is," Kate says with a grin. "I'm definately a fan."

There is a pause, and a stare, as if blasphemy has occurred. Can something really taste as good, if not better, than the milkshake Jack has just discovered?

"What is...chocolate?"

"What you're drinking right now." She blinks, tilting her head a little. "Didn't you realize that?"

"...no."

He really had no idea what it was he was drinking.

"Is all chocolate this good?"

"Yes. You should give a chocolate bar a try, sometime."

The smile widens a little.

"It's even better than that milkshake."

He just stares.

"You lie!"

Suddenly, Jack seems ashamed of himself, and despite what his craving for sugar tells him, he puts down the drink. "I...I am sorry, Kate. It would seem this drink is making me act...not like myself. I did not mean to be so rude."

He's one step away from hanging his head in shame.

"It's okay. You're just surprised, is all."

She reaches for her lemonade to take a sip. "You should try it someday. Actual chocolate, that is."

He is eying the milkshake like poison now.

"Perhaps I will return to tea from now one...this...chocolate, seems almost demonic..."

Demons and Jack go way back. And not in a good way.

"It's not," Kate assures, shaking her head. There's an amused grin on her face, and she can't help but laugh lightly. "There's nothing demonic about chcolate."
