"Can I at least help?" she asks, watching him. The baby gurgles a little but seems quite happy in the sling on her front.

She gently tends to his wounds. "The war at your home is no better then?"

Jack ties his hair back, eager to have it out of his way once more. "Well then, little-Jack-who-is-not-named-after-me, it is a pleasure to meet you. I do hope you grow up to be like your mother here. She seems very kind, even to somebody who is practically stranger." Jack is not the sort of guy who talks to a baby likes it's an idiot.

"Thank you." She tucks the bandage in neatly.
"Are you going to be all right?" she asks, gently bathing the next one.

There is a pause as he eyes baby-Jack with a small smile. "Where is the father?" He asks, unsure if he is overstepping his boundaries.

"Why Jack?" He asks, taking the warm cup and sipping the tea slowly. "Is it simply a name that appealed to you?"

"I didn't want to choose anything too fancy. Since I'm a Betty it would have been out of place. And Theodore is a little more in keeping with Borogravian names."

He sips the tea for a few moments, letting the warm liquid spread peace and calm throughout his body. "Thank you for this, Miss Shufti. It is not often such acts of kindness are delivered onto me."
