Max's people watching has a little more focus today than it usually does. She's definitely looking for someone in specific. Or rather, trying to avoid someone in specific, but as that involves knowing where they are, or might be, it looks rather similar.

A very pissed off and beaten up Eddie wanders over towards her booth. He's not in much of a mood to notice (or care) how she's acting or feeling at the moment, but that's probably because his ego's been bruised. Much like the rest of him.

Arm in a cast, held in a sling, face somewhat bruised and his pride more or less destroyed, he sits down without asking.

"Hey Max."

"Hey." She looks him over, eyes narrowing ever so slightly. It's been a while since she'd seen someone looking quite so battered. "You look like hell. What happened?"

"I decided to be a dumbass."

He orders a much-needed beer from a passing wait-rat before explaining further.

"I went after the guy who has the symbiote. By myself, without weapons or anything. I...didn't think it through too much."

She winces slightly. "Shit. How bad was it?"

She isn't really harbouring any illusions about him having won the fight. If nothing else, she figures he'd be in a better mood if he had.

Definitely.

"Really, really bad. I found him, which made me feel good about myself for about three seconds before he hit me so hard he broke my ribs. Then I taunted him, which proved to be a mistake. I think so, anyways, because the next ten minutes or so after that are pretty hard to remember. Except for a lot of pain. And then he got me to punch him, and I think I broke my hand doing so, and just to make it worse he snapped my arm like a twig. Then he brought a wall down on me and I lay there bleeding for awhile before I got to Milliways."

Beat.

"On the up side, I'm not dead."

She just looks at him for a moment, fighting an upsurge of morbid laughter. "Yeah, that can generally be considered a good thing."

He gives her the evil-eye, but relaxs slightly. It's hard to remain so ticked about the situation once he looks at it that way.

"Well, even if I'd died, I'd probably have ended up here, right?"

There is a pause as he takes the beer from the returned wait-rat.

"Well, I'll know soon enough. I've got a month tops before I flat-line, so I've got to start planning, and fast."

She has the grace to look somewhat chagrined. "Sorry. Survival mechanism."

She leans back against the wall of the booth, peering into her coffee cup for a moment. "I'd imagine the first order of business would be to find a healer. No offense, but you're not going to be very effective when you're this badly injured."

There is some minor grumbling, but he agrees anyways.

"I will, if I can, but I'm not sure how much help I'll be anyways. As long as I have one arm, that's all I should need. I borrowed a rather peculiar gun from somebody here, and from what I've seen, it should do the trick. I'll still need help, but I won't be totally useless."

He doesn't mention his aim is not so hot.

She gives him a slightly worried look, but nods.

"Never thought you would be. So, what's the plan so far?"

Her question is followed by several long moments of silence.

"...not sure, really. I've never been the most amazing tactician, but as far as I see it, I have two choices. Kill the symbiote, or try to take it back. Either way, that means I've got to get Gargan (that'd be the new Venom) out of the picture. Which won't be easy. I'll need help, obviously, just...not sure how much help."

She blinks a few times. "That's a start. Is he any good at strategy?"

[symbiote_venom]

Eddie smiles slightly and shakes his head.

"Gargan? Fuck no, he's a B-rate villain at best, he got by most of the time because he was strong and fast, but brains? Not much in that department. He'll be a lot stronger and all now, but the symbiote'll only make him more insane, if anything."

She nods, her expression turning faintly thoughtful. "He actually know anything about fighting? Or does he get by mostly by being able to hit like a mack truck?"

[symbiote_venom]

"He's not going to be winning any awards for finesse, but he's being fighting for a few years now. He's a good brawler, but no martial artist. And with the symbiote, his fists aren't the only things to watch out for. That's the thing, it's not Gargan I've worried about. It's the symbiote. I can probably get some people 'round here to help me with Gargan, but every person I bring to help is a potential target of the symbiote."

"How do you mean?" There's a moment's pause. "...Sorry about all the questions, if they're bothering you."
