After a moment Felix looks. He scrambles for a moment before realizing that this skull is not surrounded by an eldritch glow and is thus not likely to be a mindless monster from his own world. He then proceeds to the next reasonable reaction:
Ah, here's where the warrior-training comes in. Though it was not present before - or at least not visible or tangible - the Flame Shield is now on Felix's arm and coming up to block Morte's apparent trajectory.
The sword would be out too, but Felix's current position makes it awkward to reach his scabbard.
"You should be," mutters the skull. He then looks Felix over.
"So, I noticed you were serenading a certain someone. With music and everything. You have heard that that's not the greatest idea right now, eh, cutter?"
"A charm, you say." Felix is wary. Something about Morte's voice reminds him of the stories about Lunpa - not essentially malevolent, but definitely looking to get more than the other person thinks they're giving.
There are a couple of other questions he's asking inside his own head - most notably 'how would charcoal stop anything from burning' and 'where are you carrying it' - but he figures either they'll be explained or they'll turn out to be unimportant.

He'll stop before he actually hits Felix.

"No screaming? Aw, yer no fun," he complains.

The shield is gone as quickly as it arrived.
"I generally find screaming to be a waste of breath. Also it doesn't tend to help with concentration. Sorry."
