Near the middle of the bar is a decently-large sized table. In the middle of the table is a huge pot of tea, and mugs are strewn hap-hazardly around the table. The people around the table are varied, but all seem to be in various states of agitated discussion about something ( Read more... )

The group of people has attracted the attention of one seemingly six year old with glasses. He stops and looks to the group at the table. '...Why the gathering' he thinks in his mind, only able to hear his own true voice there. 'I've never seen a group like this in the bar here before...' Eyeing them suspiciously from a slight distance, he turns fully to them to watch them intently, his hands in his short pockets.

A blonde man with glasses seems to be the most animated of the group, talking perhaps a bit over-loudly to the blonde woman next to him. "Val, seriously, I could do it and not even think twice about it."

The woman looks at him, a bit pensively, shaking her head. "Mark, listen. You could, but that doesn't mean you should. There's other factors at work here."

The grey-haired man in brown robes looks up, startled. "I do believe we are being observed." He turns and smiles at the young boy.

Conan blinks and looks to the robed man and blinks. 'That's an interesting outfit...' he thinks in his mind, before looking to the two bickering. As if anyone would take him seriously as he was now.

The two bickering keep going at it, with the other two joining in. Qui-Gon, however. smiles at the boy, beckoning him over. "Come here, youngling." He smiles gently. "Do not worry, my friends, for as loud as their voices are, truly are quite harmless."

As if he's scared. He's always got his gadgets, thanks to Doctor Agasa. With a vauge nod, he walks over slowly, hands buried in his pockets. "They sure can go at it, though. What's the whole argument about, anyway?" He looks up at the others in the group, trying to hear something that might stick out as a clue in their comments.

The blonde man is now talking at the other woman, the darker one. "Joanne, seriously. It's not a big deal. I can just write a check for it, and then people will shut up."

She shakes her head. "Listen, Mark. Throwing money at things, even though you have it now, isn't the answer to anything."

Qui-Gon laughs a bit, shaking his head. "The man with the glasses seems to think that he can simply pay everyone's tab in the bar, and things will be alright. Everyone else is trying to convince him that it would probably not be the best of ideas." He cracks a smile. "Mark is a rather determined yong man, however, who thinks he has too much money."

Conan looks to the other four present at the table other than him and the robed man, and furls his eyebrows in concentration some. "...So, that's it, huh? It's issues on how he handles his finances?" he asks softly, watching the scene.

Yes, he was a six year old...He just had a big vocabulary...Right...

"Something like that. Mark is a very impestuous young man, who would very much like to solve the problems of the universe himself. Sometimes his ideas on solving said problems are a bit over the top." Qui-Gon smiles. It is perhaps rare to see a youngling with a vocabulary such as this child's, however, not unheard of in some worlds.

Valentine turns from where she was speaking to Mark and smiles at the youngster. "I don't believe I've seen you around before, dear. Where are you from?"

Conan smiles and nods. "I'm from Tokyo..." he replies. At least he knew about finances. His dad was a popular mystery writer, after all, so money was never a problem for him. Looking to Mark, he comments, "And, also take into consideration that there are a lot of people here...If you paid the tabs on everyone in the bar, it would no doubt drain your current financial resources, and might cause a bit of a problem anyway, for many others. Think of it from a psychological standpoint...how would any person feel if something they knew to be a fact was suddenly a lie?"

Val beams at the boy, then turns to Mark. "I like you. I think you'd get along well with my brother. See, Mark? Exactly what I've been telling you the entire time. You can't just wave things away, even if you have the money. You've got a production company, find something for people to do if you want to do it that way."

Mark sighs, rolling his eyes at Valentine. "But really if things like that would just go away, people wouldn't have to worry about crap like money, and they could get on to doing things they really like. Isn't it worth it so that people don't have to be worried?"
