Satan, of course, has immediate ideas about what this Salvatore will be showing him at night, and doesn't like it. But he doesn't say anything - yet - because he doesn't want to plant a seed in Jack's head. Or worse, Frost's.
'Sounds like it'll work out well for you then. Have you been to Italy before?'
I was going to ask you, but I kissed you and you burned me horribly.
He's just unguarded enough to let that throught slip to the surface. With a very resigned sort of anxiety, but the swell of excitement curls it down again.
He resists the urge to snicker, and just nods solemnly instead.
'Of course. He lives there, you know? Sometimes people get in to see him but he'll probably damn you the second you set foot in Rome. Doesn't like me or my friends, you know?'
"Well, that is not terrifying. To be damned requires a soul, and if I am sent physically to hell then I am sure it would be very frightening but you or Lucy could rescue me. I would be happier if it were you because... but both would be nice."
Yes, he's daydreaming. Yes, out loud, in front of Satan.
"Because it is more likely to be your Hell, if God has any sense of humour, and if you are truly trying to prove that you are not him then you would be better to do it then her. It is like a story of old, in a way. Except in those it was never Hell, it was a kingdom of some sorts."
He ignores most of this because when does Jack ever make sense? Instead he just says, 'God does not have a sense of humour, trust me on that. I'm much more fun than he is - and why would I try to prove I'm not him? Of course I'm not him.'
"Well, then, I will just have to avoid the Vatican. I have very little interest in being trapped in Hell, I imagine I would become bored, if I could not see Italy once or twice. What is it like, Belial?"
'Evening Jack.'
Reply
Jack beams at him.
"It is a wonderful day."
Reply
He sits easily, and with an air of mild curiousity.
'Why?'
Reply
He's not quite bouncing.
Reply
'Is that right?'
His tone is quiet, calculating almost.
'Who with?'
Reply
He tries very hard to school his expression.
"It is wonderful. I will have days to sleep, because he is a vampire, and then he will take me about at night."

There's quiet wonder in his voice.

'I suppose it's Frost that has seen places. Too bad.'
He shrugs. 'If you're going to the Colliseum, you should go to the Vatican.' A wicked smile. 'Tell God I said hi.'
Reply
His eyes widen dramatically.
"I think I would avoid him. If I have been kissing you he might take my head off."

Well, that's Jack for you.

The curiousity might be genuine. The amusement certainly is.
