Oh, look, a woman in distress. If it weren't so obvious, Howl would be rubbing his hands together right about now. Instead, he smooths out the trailing sleeve of one of his best jackets and moves to her side.
"You look sad."
And I've always been rather skilled at overstating the obvious.
"Are you in need of cheering up? I'm rather good at that, they say."
Howl studies her for a moment. "You look as if you're pondering somewhat imponderable things. You look as if the world has got away from you. You also look very lovely."
He pauses. "If you don't mind my saying." He bows deeply. "Howl Pendragon at your service."
